I have been here many times—always loved it—but was quite disappointed this time. Staff who greeted us were cursory and rude, food was mixed—lamb was just terrible, tough as leather. Service was low quality, they kept removing our plates before we were done. I will not be back.
Always a stand-out, with excellent cuisine, top-notch service, and atmosphere like nothing else in Vallarta. Truly transporting.
Exceptional as always. One of my favorites.
First rate at every level
Food and wine were fantastic. I am giving a low ambiance score because we requested to sit in the garden but it had rained earlier in the day so they were not doing garden seating. The other low point was that our dessert plate came to the table with small bugs crawling all over it. Otherwise a nice dinner.
Best food and best evening. From the amazing bread to the dessert we couldn’t have asked for more. Perfect special evening
Amazing food and service thank you Manny for making my husband birthday so special.
Due to the rain, we were not able to sit in the garden--one of the main reasons we went to Cafe des Artistes; however, we still enjoyed our fabulous dinner. We all did the tasting menu and found it marvelous but too much food! Wait staff was amazing.
Still the best restaurant and value for money in Peurto Vallarto!! However, I wish that they would stop with the fake bird noises in the trees, it’s fake and noisy and totally useless
The food is excellent!
As always, the number 1 restaurant in Puerto Vallarta. Wonderful meal at a really good price, beautiful ambience of the garden room, and outstanding service, this time by our waiter Marvin and busboy Daniel. Consistently great in all ways.
Lovely food and perfect service.
Amazing terrace u need to eat here
We were seated in the garden and had a wonderful view, exceptional service, and exquisite food. Would love to have splurged on the tasting menu but ordered off instead. 2 cocktails, 2 apps, 2 dinners, one bottle of wine with tip only $120. Will definitely be back
Cafe Des Artistes continues to be a world class restaurant. The food and service are exceptional
The night was perfect!!!
Cafe Artiste is an good international restaurant
Prices are high for México, similar to prices in Las Vegas
We have been to Cafe des Artiste many times over the past several years and this time was definitely disappointing. We know the prices are are the high end, but you get what you pay for and we have always felt the service, the food and the atmosphere were well worth the higher prices. However, this past visit the service and the food was completely undeserving of the higher prices. The waiter couldn't have cared less if we were there and did not add any value to the dining experience. He never even asked if we were happy with our meals after they were served.
There were six of us dining and three of us had the Suckling Lamb. I don;t recall the description on the menu, but it was not two tiny double lamb chops. You literally cut each one once and had two little pieces of lamb. Utterly ridiculous! The signature Pumpkin Soup is still very good and the Seared Tuna entree was good.
There plenty of high end restaurants already in and recently opened in Puerto Vallarta and we will be taking our business elsewhere. When you have been to a restaurant many times and are familiar with the setting, then feel like you are being taken advantage of, it is time to move on.
Hopefully this was a one time blip in the system for this Cafe des Artiste, but at $1,700 pesos per person we won't take the chance on finding out.
Loved the garden and the service. Some of our dishes were great. Some good, but nothing special
Experience excellente! Kenny and Karen Jones Ontario Canada
This was a magical experience. If you only have 1 night, go here.
Their garden is a lovely place for a quiet evening with a special someone. Food and service were both up to par, but the ambience of the garden is what makes it special.
as always.... great ambiance, so so food, expensive. The tasting menu could have served more food.
Far too busy in the tourist season and not enough wait staff. This is an experienced establishment and must be well aware of the poor service and their kitchen and wait staff being overwhelmed by the short staffing or overbooking. We ordered the Chef’s Tasting Menu and it took 4 hours + with errors. Our waiter introduced himself and we never saw him again, just his #2, who was unfamiliar with the courses so the wine pairing were out of sequence. We are PV residents and regulars but we will only return in low season if at all.
Beautiful restaurant. Food was very good. The foie gras was very delicious. Service was excellent. We really enjoyed our experience at Cafe des Artistes. Would highly recommend for an upscale dining experience in Puerto Vallarta.
Excelente cocina y servicio. Buenísimos los camarones en Temazcal
Mahi-mahi in mole sauce... what a ridiculous idea. Too much pretense, too little substance.
Very disappointed in the quality of the food for the money.
My partner had cordero (lamb) which is supposed to be a signature dish but was not aged well.
My atun (tuna) was supposed to be encrusted with peanuts which was hard to find. The presentation could have been refined if sliced thinner.
We were seated in a back room which was pleasant but as we were having a fairly early dinner I think we could have been offered the garden room or one closer to windows facing a very active street on Art Walk night.
One note...no Bistro Menu available even though the restaurant always advertised this for early dining and all night on Wednesday’s for the Art a Walk.... a little tacky as that menu had been glued shut to the main menu.
We were not acknowledged at all when we left the restaurant. I did not want anyone fawning over us but after spending what we did for a meal the least someone could have said was Buenos Noches.
Surprisingly poor experience at this place. We have been here a few times before, and it had been phenomenal. This time, however, it was bad from the start. After an initial intro, our drinks took about 20-25 minutes. We had to send back a margarita (!) because it was undrinkable. Our waiter told us that “maybe the bartender made it in a hurry”. That was a prelude to the rest of the night. To get a sense of this, our reservations were at 930 and the entree came out at 11:25. The tomato burrata salad was good, but the squash blossoms were oily and unflavored. The pear salad was decent, but it came with little cheese balls that were too pungent and did not match the rest of the plate. Finally, our entree was not cooked as requested (too rare) and the ribs were nothing but a blob of fat. When we asked if there was a problem we were told that “sometimes too many come in, and the kitchen gets held up”. Unfortunately, last night was one of those times and the place did not live up to its reputation or our experience.
Gorgeous place. The patio/outdoor area is absolutely divine. We were there for a birthday and the cake was really something to talk about, as well as all the extra touches. Make sure you get the sexy coffee at the end of your meal.
I loved every appetizer we ordered, I had the lamb as my entree, and this is where my experience fell short. It was lacking in the flavors that the rest of the meal had. Other than this, it was a MARVELOUS experience. I cannot wait to return!
We had high expectations after reading the reviews, but we were extremely disappointed. We found the food to be bland, cold and underwhelming. Maybe an off day for the kitchen, all fluff and no substance.
we had the 6 degustacion menu, starting very good, but the atun was not the expected 'tataki' quality, the smell of the lamb chops was a bit too strong and the foi gras was nearly frozen inside. The rest of the menu was perfect, a really good service! We have been seated nearby the kitchen and the wash room entrance, a corner without windows! Ask for a better place! At all the quality of the dishes do not reach european Michelin niveau - but the prices do! The stuff too - best service in town!
My wife and I had a lovely evening on new years day. Sat in small area where the rock wall and water are so very intimate and quiet. Great for us as we are seniors. Next time I would like to try the larger and more energetic bar area for comparison. Great evening.
Fantastic ambiance. Quality and presentation of food was top drawer
