Great opportunity to dine with friends away from home.
Party of 4 tried the Chef’s Tasting Menu ... 2 with wine pairings. Are things we would never had ordered and are pleasantly surprised ... a very enjoyable experience! Highly recommend!
La comida y vinos y meseros estuvieron alta calidad. Mi proxima vez en PV, ojala voy café des artistes.
Great service by Luis and Paco
We had a really good meal, with great service! There were birthdays at almost every table. They brought out a special birthday treat to my table, but I think you are supposed to call ahead to let them know as the treat is quite fancy. Also, the outdoor seating upstairs was incredible, and we will definitely ask to sit there next time.
This restaurant never disappoints, always an exceptional dining experience.
Excellent food and atmosphere
The Garden is a magical experience. The staff is top notch, food is good, and the live music is wonderful.
Magical evening. Loved the violin and piano players.
After reading many great reviews I was very disappointed with our experience. We were celebrating a big birthday which the restaurant was aware of. We were sat in the worst table and proceeded to have a very mediocre meal. Seared tuna was cooked through, wine was terrible. Service was just ok. At the end of dinner we explored the rest of the restaurant only to discover the beautiful outdoor dining area. I couldn’t believe that we had been shoved in a corner when we could have been outside having a beautiful dinner. I went and spoke to the hosts about it and was told that is only for reservations. Which I had!!!!’ So disappointed.
The musicians started too late, we were there from 6:00 to 9:00 pm and not have the chance to hear them.
Expensive, slow, and overcooked.
St Valentin ! Tout est bon beau et vraiment parfait ! A découvrir ❤️
The garden was beautiful. It was Valentine's day with only a pre fixe option. The amuse-bouche and the soup were delicious. The shrimp were only warm and felt a little mass produced. It was a relatively expensive meal. ... maybe worth it on a regular night.
It’s one of the most beautiful restaurants i have ever been to, and I have traveled to 45 countries. It’s very fancy and everyone is very well dressed so make sure you dress appropriately. As for the food, it’s food art but unfortunately they focus too much on showing off at the expense of the taste. This is not the first time and I wish the food was better!
An amazing Valentines Dinner experience. A bit pricey but non the less we loved it.
Did not know you could not order from the regular menu on Valentines Day. Was disappointed!!!!
Valine dinner in the garden. Beautiful quiet and very romantic.
On January 4th I booked a dinner reservation on Open Table for Valentines Day, February 14th and requested a garden table. Upon arrival my request was denied because quote, “We do not honor special requests from Open Table”. That boarders on total stupidity.
We started dining here shortly after it opened about 30 years ago and enjoyed the experiences. Then we noted the service was going down the the elitist attitudes started to prevail. We stopped dining here for about 10+ years and took the restaurant off of our recommended list that we publish and share. A few years ago we decided to give it another try and the standards had improved, allowing us to again enjoy the venue.
That said, this recent experience was not great. After we were seated, we asked for casa agua fria (4 times). We ordered our cocktails, finished them and had to ask to see the dinner menu, which was a limited fix prix. We ordered a bottle of wine but when it still hadn’t arrived 20 minutes later we had to ask twice when it would brought to the table. Time between courses was too great, especially with a fixed menu. One course was served 45 minutes after the preceding course. The food was favorable and well prepared, with the exception of the main course, beef peddle and quail. The beef tenderloin was great but the quail was either ground or minced and stuffed in a onion shell. It was tasteless and bland.
Based upon this experience with the attitudes and lack of service, we have decided to not return and to again remove it from our recommendations list. For years they had no completion and now they do, giving diners other options.
A mostly impressive meal but very disappointing service at Cafe des Artistes on Valentines Day. The prix fixe menu included 6 courses. For 3 of the courses they provided a choice of 2 interesting options. The two of us ordered such that we were able to share one of each menu choices. We particularly enjoyed the Kampachi Tostada, Foie Gras, Escargo Ravioli, Raicilla Shrimp and the St Valentine's Fantasy desert.
Unfortunately, the service basically fell apart prior to arrival of the main entré with the meal taking over 2 hours and 20 minutes (even with us skipping the final macarons because of the long delay).
Prior to the main entré, the pacing of courses and attentiveness of the server met expectations in a restaurant where each meal with wine is over $125 USD. However, there was a significant delay in receiving the entrés and then more delays for each of the 2 desert courses. Even the presentation of the St Valentine's Fantasy desert was not done correctly. After melting the red heart on top, the server had to go in search of water to initiate the dry ice fog effect. I imagine this was suppose to be one presentation for dramatic effect. We then again waited a very long time with no visit from the server. Turning my head to make eye contact with the server he asked if we needed anything. I mentioned we've been sitting there for about 15 minutes waiting for the macarons.
To highlight where the service was lacking, we ordered a bottle of wine which the server only topped off our glasses once after which we did it ourselves. We even figured we had finished the bottle because the server had not been by to top it off. Checking the bottle there was about 1/3 remaining. I realize this is a first world problem but we were dining in what is supposed to be a first world 5* restaurant. In a less expensive restaurant, this wouldn't have even been noticed.
Would we eat here again? Possibly but unlikely since there are so many good restaurants in PV.
I did not know that they only offered a fixed menu; if I was informed of that I would never have made a reservation there.
Our server Jorge was excellent; he did all he could do to help us. There were a number of tables near us that were also unaware that the usual menu was not offered.
A Valentines Day disaster. Fixed menu way overpriced. Food and service way below standard. Our tenth visit and the worst. Made reservations months early requesting garden seating,,,nope-first come first served. Am dropping from our desired list and do not recommend even though this site mandates a selection. Arggh
A superb dining experience! Food, drink and service were perfect made resplendent by the garden setting, candle light, the night jasmine and the singing tree frogs! Excellent wine list too.
We love this place. The food, service and ambiance are wonderful. Unfortunately we went on Valentines Day and they had a very expensive fixed price menu. The price was not on the menu and we got a surprise when the bill came. We ran into several people who will never go back but we would. The previous 2 years we went the day after Valentines Day and everything including the price was good. None of us in our party thought to ask the price before we ate. The couple next to us got up and left and now we know why.
I was dining solo but that didn’t stop me getting a decent table and excellent, attentive service. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed and friendly despite the food being top-notch. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. They also informed me of the potential wait for dishes if I wanted the tasting menu (it was a busy night for it), which meant I could make an informed choice (I opted for A La Carte, which was excellent)
Always a nice time at this restaurant. This is my 3rd time there. I like to go early so we have a good chance of being able to sit outside. I recently ordered from the pre fixe bistro menu which is excellent value.
We can’t imagine a more lovely meal experience than the one we had at this restaurant. It was classy, beautiful, artistic and delicious!
Service excellent, foods 7 services very nice quality and beautiful presentation, but please if you are a connaisseur of wine ! D’ont take the pairing ( wine)
Commercial wine like ménage a 3 and George Duboeuf . Very disappointing!
EFRAIM AND VICTOR , was very very nice waiter !
Love this place!
Seated in the magical garden area at a quiet table - my friend visiting for first time was knocked out by the beauty of the place, as I am every time I visit. Food is superb: inventive and multi-layered but still approachable for the less-adventurous in your party.
Not to be missed in any visit to Puerto Vallarta!
Service ambience food and presentation were excellent. Awesome place.
Very nice gastronomical dinner! Excellent wines and service. Pricing just a little high, but still fantastic.
It was marvelous. Incredible attention to detail. They truly know how to make you feel like a valued guest, with food that is on par with some of the best in the world.
Would definitely recommend for a special date night or a birthday dinner.
There’s a reason this is one of our top two favorite restaurants in PV and ensure we visit every time we come. Great ambiance and amazing food and cocktails!
Alló Alló! We are glad to know that we are one of your top two of favorite restaurants in Puerto Vallarta. We look forward to receive you again soon. Our best regards. Tannia Robredo. Customer Service & Reservation Executive.
One of the best dining experiences in PV! Sit upstairs in the garden area. It is like sitting outside in a garden, oh wait, that's exactly what it is! Pumpkin soup is a must.
Surprised by the 240 peso martinis but overall was wonderful
Alló Alló! Thank you for you kind post, looking forward to have the pleasure of receive you again soon. Warm regards. Tannia Robredo. Customer Service & Reservation Executive.
