So nice to feel the love
When you simply crave a fix of moules frites, head to BXL Zoute. Located on W 22 off Sixth Ave, this lively place features a varied menu, and one of the longest bars in the city. The basket of bread is nice, and the profiterole dessert one of the best we've ever had. Attracting a young crowd, it does get noisy, but this is a great spot for a meal before or after theater at the Irish Rep.
Great menu! Lots of variety and good portions for the value. Feels very much like a European bistro. Cozy, quaint.
Excellent meal, and there was good energy in the restaurant at the tables and at the bar.
Our service was not good, the waitress came to the table to ask us to order (drinks, then dinner) and while we were trying to tell her what we wanted or ask a question, she just walked away. Very unusual. Once we did get to order everything was very good.
Loved it so much! We’d never been there and took a chance it would work for our group of 12. Perfect!
Our meal was great! Salads, bone marrow, mussels, all yummy! The noise level was crazy loud for dining. Almost comical trying to have a conversation. Luckily I know my husband well enough, didn’t need to make conversation over dinner.
BXL Zoute is a terrific neighborhood restaurant with good food and plenty of it! 5 friends and I met for dinner and enjoyed the mussels and frites. They offer several different sauces - all of them very flavorful. The server was very attentive and allowed us to sit and drink a couple bottles of wine at our table while we waited for the rest of our party to show up.
The music was a little louder than I would have preferred but we had no trouble carrying on a conversation. The place seems to have an active bar crowd and many repeat customers (of which we are some).
Always spectacular!! We really enjoy this restaurant, so reliably great.
Definitely had the Belgian/bistro ambiance. Food was excellent, and the service good, although a little quirky. Could've been the busy-ness of the place. It was packed, considering that it was a Wednesday. Suggestion: larger water glasses, or else leave a bottle of tap water at the table so there is less need for servers to refill it. The noise level marred my enjoyment because I felt like I had to raise my voice to talk to my dining companions, which probably added to the overall noise level. Catch-22. Overall, great food and ambiance. Would go back again as long as I'm prepared for the noise.
Best Belgian Beef Stew in NYC! It's my favorite dish back home, but here they also make it fabulous
Excellent food. Very good service. Noisier than I expected.
Food excellent, service great, nice European pub atmosphere.
Great meal, and I already made a reservation for another time. Very nice menu with many variable choices. The restaurant was very busy but we received good service.
Food was decent. Wine was cheap, but not great. Waitress was brusque and rushed, but host and servers were warm & friendly. BUT we will be back because the atmosphere was lively and warm. We're hoping to turn this into one of our regular neighborhood spots. Now we need to figure out the menu and a friendlier waitress.
As always, great food, good ambiance, feels like being back in Belgium for a couple of hours!
This place is great!! Our server Timo was fantastic. Will definitely go back soon. The beer selection is amazing!!
Love this place
A good restaurant serving authentic Belgian food.
The best dish is the Chicons au gratin, hard to find outside of Belgium (I am Belgian myself).
Loves the food and everything
Super friendly local place with great food! Love this place!
Great place to grab a drink at the bar or meet up with friends for dinner.
If not for the noise, I would give this restaurant 4 stars.
Always delicious, helpful staff, a favorite of ours.
Always a pleasure dining at DXL... attentive and kind staff & delicious food...
If I'm being honest, half the reason I like going to BXL Zoute is that they have a great selection of Belgian beers on tap and in bottles. Rodenback Grand Cru on tap is such a treat, to say nothing of Gulden Draak. However, the fact is that their food is quite good too.
I went most recently with two friends. We had two plates of their delicious Croquettes de Fromage and a Croque BXL. The croquettes are crunchy on the outside and soft and pillowy inside. My friend gets them every time we go. We got two plates so she could eat one order herself, and the other was shared by the remaining two of us. The Croque BXL was also well executed. The saltiness of the ham was balanced by the unctuous, melted cheese and crusty, buttery bread.
For entrees, my group was a bit boring; we all ordered different versions of Moules Frites. While not so inventive for us to all get variations of the same dish, their mussels are perfect every time, and their fries, while not especially thin, still are satisfying and crisp. Thankfully, I can also say that they offer nice bread, both a crusty, airy, white and a denser bread with seeds. That is an important fact because when you get to the bottom of your Moules Frites and you're faced with a pool of yummy, creamy, winey, mustardy, etc. liquid, you have something with which to sop it up.
I've been to BXL Zoute many times, but I'll keep returning because they always deliver a wonderful meal, accompanied by great beer. I know they have wine for those that don't fancy beer, but I've never even looked at their wine offerings. You'll have to discover them for yourself.
Skip the croque tomate
I usually go for dinner, and found Brunch to be lovely! Delicious food (remarkable Eggs Benedict!). As it was early, it was much quieter as the bar was not busy. Definitely recommend for brunch, and for a more lively dinner.
I came here with 11 family members and we had a wonderful dining experience. The restaurant was very accommodating to our large group and provided excellent service. The restaurant itself is cozy and feels homey.
Excellent food. Varied menu. Fine setting below ground. Affable place to have fun and enjoy your food friends. Strong cultural, culinary experience.
Felt they were rushing us through dinner. Food was good and ambiance was energetic.
Immediately greeted when we entered and seated. The owner was there when we visited and was a complete joy. He made our brunch feel as if it were a family brunch at home ball the food was served in a timely matter and was absolutely fresh. I'd definitely go back again and again and again!!!!
Good energy from the servers/waitstaff, great mussels with robust flavors and the price is pretty reasonable. Would come back again for those mussels!
We had a marvelous dinner! My friend and I are both Belgian and we can truly say it was delicious! It’s a true Belgian restaurant with a delicious choice of food and beers! I loved it
Great beer! Good spot for a late night dinner. Reminded us of when we lived in Brussels,
Special dinner for our Son who proposed to his girlfriend- super dinner and the staff took care of us in a superb fashion- thank you so much!!!
A relaxed, warm feel and nicely decorated for the holidays. There is a good value $20 prix fix lunch menu that includes a an appetizer, entree and drink." I enjoyed the special shrimp po boy sandwich special and pate appetizer.
A fun spot if a little crowded and loud. I still go back often as the food is inexpensive and good.
Always reliable. Good food and service. Great for groups.
Love it! Everyone is so nice, one of my favourite local places!
Loved brunch! Great food and fun atmosphere!
