It was nice but service a little slow. The service was handling tables all over the place and was trying her best but had too many tables to do a better job.
We’re longtime fans of this old-school beef restaurant/sports bar. Prices have risen considerably (especially since we were fans of the early bird special). I wouldn’t go anywhere else for prime rib. Weekend breakfast is good as well.
Definitely a steak joint! Service was good despite their shortage with staff. Great for large groups!
Haven't been here in 10 years but everything was the same. Good prime rib and appetizers. Pleasant, friendly atmosphere. The next time we are in San Diego, Bully's will be our go to place.
Service was slow, food items did not match or was missing items listed in the menu.
Dined for our Anniversary Dinner and to watch the MLB All Star Game. Ambiance in bar and in the dining room was perfect. The dining room had tvs mounted throughout the dining area and the staff was friendly and great - even accommodating changing the channel to the closest TV for us to the MLB All Star Game. Excellent experience and we will definitely be back again.
Old school steakhouse meets sports bar vibe. The prime rib melt was everything you’d want it in a meat sammy, and the prices are wayyyyy better than those you’ll find in the gas lamp district. Definitely worth the 10 minute drive.
Bully’s is an old time prime rib restaurant that has survived the times and we were happy to see that it’s still attracting a young crowd, not just those of us who have known it for years. There are some updates to the menu for today’s tastes but the old reliables are still there. It retains the red leather and dark wood look and that works for them. Food is consistently good.
First time at Bully's with food, service, ambience "good" all around. Prices very good. I would go back. Great comfortable seating to eat and 'watch the game' at the sametime.
The prime ribs were excellent. The service was outstanding. Would definitely come back!
We’ve been going here since the 90s. The service is great. The food is excellent. It’s nice but not fancy or pretentious. The owner was there and greeted us and handled a mistaken order. We had a blast and love the food and will be back. And reasonable for a steak house.
Last of the Bully’s! (Bird Rock and Del Mar RIP). Hope it never changes.
Enjoyed everything and the prime rib was excellent. As per the wife "that was the perfect dinner date", so it appears we have a new favorite spot. Thanks Bullys!
We went last night since it was my boyfriends dads birthday. We wanted an option with a reservation and we love coming here. We dined in a few times during Covid and often pre-Covid. Walking in last night was a disaster. It was obvious there was staffing issues. We arrived a little early for our dinner reservation and we told we would need to wait. There were a few bar tables, so we decided maybe we would get a pre dinner drink. We waited for 15 minutes and the one waitress walked passed us before we could even ask for a drink. The bar was full and you could tell the solo bartender was overwhelmed. She had to make every drink and there was no bar-back. We got seated when our reservation time hit but it took nearly 15 minutes for our waitress to come. The only reason it got 3 stars was her, she was clearly working super hard. We put our drink order in and everyone but the birthday guy got drinks. Our waitress literally stood at the bar and waited to get the rest of the order, we were just a party of 4. After our drinks we
Put our food order in. We barely got the salads in time to eat before the main dishes arrived. The prime rib dip had the wrong bread which she took back and corrected. My ribs were barely edible. Mostly fat there was barely any meat. The fries were soft and needed a few more minutes. The meatball sandwich my boyfriend ordered was amazing I wish I would have got that. His dads teriyaki steak was okay. Needless to say our waitress was the only one they had. She didn’t get a chance to check back in and well our dogs loved the ribs. We did get a birthday brownie and that can out nice. I know restaurants are having a hard time but we love this place. Hopefully they can find more staff to get things back to how they were.
This is a great steakhouse in Mission Valley that is easy to find with ample parking. It is somewhat dark inside which creates a comfortable atmosphere. The entrance puts you right into the bar, which I found a little odd (my daughter was dining with us so she felt uncomfortable standing in a bar). I appreciate the big menu! Our meal was delicious, our service was good, and we had a really nice dinner. I definitely will return upon my next visit to San Diego.
Unfortunately it was a poorly staffed night. We didn't get noticed by a waiter for about 20 minutes once seated and everything was frustratingly slow and jumbled thereafter. I used to stop in for a drink at Bully's a great deal but the food isn't that great and menu is limited for Gluten free to a few of their worst dishes.
Next time will specify not to sit in the bar area. Way too noisy and impossible communicate with each other. Everyone was satisfied with their meals
Guest was given a Birthday cheesecake with candle. A lot of restaurants have stopped doing it so glad I chose Bully"s to celebrate.
Delicious salads. Fabulous dressings. Iced tea refilled regularly. Enjoyed our lunch
I had a fly in my salad ☹️. Waitress was great 😊. Main entrée was very slow to come out ☹️. Prime rib was excellent👍🏼.
Once again, awesome food and service!! Always a great pleasure to dine here!!
We have all been dining at Billy’s since 1978. We wanted to patronize our locally owned and (was) favorite restaurant. The service was the best I have had in sometime although the front desk was a little unorganized. But they were friendly. I chalk it up to young inexperienced and understand. I had the steak and enchiladas with baked potato. The meat was cooked to perfection but the enchilada was slipped in a small bowl. It was hard as a rock. The baked potato may have come from someone else’s meal last week. Hard as a rock. Not one to complain, I just didn’t eat either. Of course I will go back but please put asparagus on the menu and the return of the homemade kiwi pie. I miss JD’s idea of Bully’s. Perhaps it is for his sons generation now and not the great quality it once was. It’s still my local place with lots of memories.
Very good prime rib. Its horseradish crusted and that is amazing. The waitress was excellent. The old fashion was true new york style (dinner one not happy hour dont know on that one). Their street corn delicious. loved it all.
Bully's has had the best prime rib in SanDiego for 50 years
I would be lying if I didn't admit that I was skeptical about our visit ahead of time. However, the food and service were amazing. It is among the best prime rib dinners I've ever had! Stephanie was incredibly attentive and created a great experience.
We'll definitely go back the next time we're in San Diego!
Ribeye was excellent!
We were there for Lunch. Great selection of choices, all inviting. The service was prompt and friendly and the menu items oredered were all tasty and the portions were "fit for a family".
I love going to Bullys, been there a few dozen times. The food is always great One of the best steakhouses in San Diego.
I’m a long time client of Bully’s last night I asked for just butter on my baked potato and got sour cream and chives the potato was very hard the bus boy needs to learn restaurant etiquette the prime rib was delicious The bread use to be warm and it wasn’t last night
This place is a classic staple in San Diego! Love it!
My waitress was wonderful. She was friendly and very efficient. The 16 ounce prime rib was very rare, exactly the way I like it. The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that instead of being $45, the cost was now stated on the menu “market price“. I love prime rib and steak and Bully’s is my favorite restaurant for prime rib. However, it seems to me that restaurants are raising prices to recoup the business lost due to Covid. I don’t mind spending the 3% surcharge because it’s a negligible amount. But I do resent paying $10 more than I did a few weeks ago. Yes, restauranteurs have been going through a hard time, But so have the customers. No matter what, Bully’s has the best prime rib anywhere.
A bit too noisy. Must be everyone being out and about.
Our waitress was AMAZING- very friendly and attentive. Food was really good as always.
We had an enjoyable lunch in pleasant surroundings. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was great.
We enjoyed the table and the food for the most part; the service was excellent expect for one tiny glitch which was understandable for the crowd.
We had no complaints with our food.
Unfortunately the service we get there 10 min before our reservation and they had us waiting until the hour. And I would understand if they were busy . But actually they weren’t busy at all. Our waitress had us waiting for drinks we had to ask for a beer twice. We had two children with us and asked for a booster seat and a high chair. We had to ask twice for it and with about 15 min between.
Overall there were more little details that we did not appreciate.
But again the food was great just poor customer service.
Food and service was great! I can’t wait to go back!
Nice old school Steakhouse. Good drinks. Good food. Friendly service, even being under staffed. Decent prices.
Service was great and so was the food which came from the kitchen still sizzling.
We sat on the bar side in a booth for a late Mother’s Day dinner. The food and service is always wonderful! Our server, I think her name was Lexi, was so sweet and attentive. We’ll always come back to Bullys!
