Highly overrated. I mean in the array of dazzling Indian restaurants in London, its sad to see a place like this occupy a prime spot. Ordered the biryani and the paneer karhai. Not a tone of class in taste, the fare here is very much factory fare.
We was really looking forward to this as we have been here before disappointed that lamb chops was not on the starter menu as it was last time. My dansak was OK but did not get the option of a tika, would go again but not as good as last time plus it was quite expensive
Lovely little place in the heart of London. We went for the Thali (Meat version) and had an absolutely gorgeous experience. Though this thali doesn't include the usual raita and lentils - (which was a surprise), we still had our fill of fabulous food.
Staff were very attentive and friendly.
Place was a little empty initially - but started to fill as the evening progressed.
We arrived a whole half an hour before our booking and ate straight away - (They were very flexible).
We loved the food, service was great. Very happy we found this place as affordable and good Indian restaurants are few & far between in central London. We will be back.
We booked a table at Bombay Spice last Friday because of good reviews on Tripadvisor. Did it come up to our expectations? Well, the food was all right, and the service was good. Staff members are attentive and service-minded. We got a table in the front room, close to the entrance. Unfortunately, there was a rather noisy party of men in the same room. There were may be 8 or 10 of them at first, but yet more arrived, and they became more and more aloud. To have a normal conversation, we had to ask the staff for another table. Our friendly waiter immediately gave us a table in the back room. There we enjoyed our food and had a wonderful time - for about ten minutes. Then another group of approximately 10 men – yes, still exclusively males – arrived and occupied the table next to ours, and they were in drinking mood and shouted and laughed just as loudly as the first group. Again, it became impossible to have a normal conversation. We finished our meal quickly and left.
I am not sure if the staff at Bombay Spice is to blame for a ruined meal. What could they do? But the conclusion of my review is this: Bombay Spice is a wonderful place, given that you are a member of a large male drinking party.
Lovely food, nice atmosphere and reasonably priced. Would definitely return.
Nice neighborhood curry house. Good food, good service and good price. Chicken Curry Madras very nice. Good quality meat and nice spice. Naan fresh and seasoned. Same for the butter chicken. Nicely done. Good solid restaurant. Recommend for an out of the tourist zone quiet dinner.
This is the worst restaurant that I have visited
I was the only one in the restaurant after being persuaded to eat there by a man standing outside the restaurant
The food was terrible - I had prawn jalfrezi and some Vega table dishes and did not finish the food . The restaurant waiter did not care and just wanted me to pay the bill
I ended up with an upset stomach
Avoid please unless you’re after a terrible expensive and stomach churning food
Booked from online as my daughter requested a curry before our theatre show.
The facia doesn’t do justice of the food and service. Which was a lovely surprise.
They offer a lot on the menu and more than happy to accommodate my sons non adventurous mild palette, and my husbands very spicy very adventurous palette. Food was freshly cooked very tasty and lots of it.
Would thoroughly recommend this restaurant and will return.
Nice restaurant but food disappointing. All dishes had similar sauces and were rather bland. All the dishes were quite sweet which was unexpected and the biryani was very sweet. The poppadums were good.
Perhaps not the nicest place and street, but well worth the food. The food was very good and well enough reason to go again. Friendly and joyful staff, would go again.
Met friends for dinner who were visiting from overseas . It was a great place to meet staff were friendly food good
Menu and cooking catering locals, would not recommend if looking for authentic Indian food
Very good Indian food
We had a lovely evening. Good food, welcoming staff
Really enjoyed our meal - attentive, friendly service
Very convenient location close to Baker Street tube. Good food without being spectacular - though the chilli paneer starter was excellent! Good and spicy and a bit of a change from onion bhajis - though other members of the party had those and enjoyed them. Good range of options for all palates.
I was looking for a place to eat near the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre and saw this on Open Table. I love Indian food and London usually provides very good Indian food and this is no exception.
The food was very good as was the service. If they had a West End location, I would make this a regular dining spot when I go to London
Nice waiters, nice food and nothing else. Simple Indian cuisine rest with nothing remarkable.
Despite the reviews lauding the recent refurbishment, this is a very average dining experience made up by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The food was satisfactory - well prepared and tasty though not high enough for me to want to rush back.
This neighbourhood favourite serves up very tasty Indian food and we return over and over; it is one of our "go to" places (and they also to takeaway) and Deliveroo. The chicken korma, and the chicken tikka masala, the special rice, the garlic naan, all are superlative. It's a tiny, hole in the wall place, and beloved by the neighbours. Reliable, cozy, informal, welcoming. HIghly recommended.
Great value for money, the food was delicious and the portion were generous. We went on Friday evening and the restaurant was completely full so I recommend to make a reservation before.
Great afternoon with old friends. Food was excellent, service top class and all tastes were catered for. We were not rushed to start or finish and by the time we left (4 hours later) we were all fully sated, yet still had a few quid left for a few pints down the road ! Would highly recommend for groups/parties etc.
Good quality and surprisingly tasty 'standard' London Indian. Ambiance would have been helped by not constantly holding the door open for the chap standing outside soliciting customers to chat to the people on the inside. But the food is good quality.
Well what can i say the food and service were absolutely beautiful shame I'm from newcastle or id be here every week definately worth the visit
I booked a table about two hours before we planned to eat, and when we arrived at the restaurant it was closed. I was hosting out of town visitors and everyone was extremely disappointed and we had to scramble to find an alternative venue. Needless to say, we were quite disappointed with this experience.
Everything was decent, no complaints but didn't stand out as amazing. Would go again if in the area and after a curry
We had the set meal for 4 of us and no complaints from anyone. Service was prompt and delivered with a smile. Will return.
I had dinner with friends in this restaurant. Food was delicious, very good value as well. Reason we pick this restaurant was the location that suits everyone but food was really good, definitely can go back.
For London - great value and great tasty food. Friendly, welcoming and professional staff made a quick family supper really enjoyable.
We booked here on the back of some good reviews, and its early opening time, as we were heading to the open air theatre. At 5pm, 30mins after opening, it was deserted. They said it would be busier by 6 - it was, there were 5 people in, including us. Wine list small, and not of great quality. Food was OK, but unremarkable - Aloo chat starter and chicken jalfrezi standard, but the lamb special not one to recommend. Friendly staff, but over £60 not great vfm for the experience.
Very friendly service and nice home environment. Food was quite forgettable... once the indigestion cleared out on morning after!
Had a lovely evening, place was busy and had a nice atmosphere, nice service and would go again
Good value for money, good traditional indian food.
We all enjoyed our meal and the waiters were attentive. The final bill was very reasonable, taking into consideration the drinks ordered. The ambience of the restaurant was good and the decor nice. We would definitely eat there again.
Good food. Venue quite small but wall-to-wall mirrors give feeling of space.
Food comes up from kitchen below via dumb waiter.
Bombay spice, marylebone.
Meals are always quickly served, restaurant always clean and well lit. Service is pleasant and fast. Will definitely be back.
Bombay Spice is a funny little place but very charming. We went for a work lunch and were the only people in there. The lunch menu was very good value - £6.95 for a starter, curry, rice and tea or coffee. The food was fresh as tasty.
A friendly welcome; good food with subtle flavours, at a reasonable price.
Subtle flavours; slightly haphazard, but friendly, service; an enjoyable meal.
