The beverage director who acted as the mâitre D was so awful to us. We came to celebrate my sons graduation - aunt who can barely walk from San Diego, grandmother from LA, cousins and brother and parents from Colorado and Texas. We have all wanted to come to Blue Hill for years, being dedicated local and conscious eaters. We asked for our two tables of four to be next to each other and it was is if there was a conscious effort made to keep us apart. We asked to be together, a table was freed up within 20 minutes of us being seated. We had not eaten anything and asked if we could move to that table. This man lied outright to us saying a regular had requested that table. It sat free for an hour and a half and the people who sat down had never dined there before. We spent well over $1,000 for 8 of us. We have been saving for this splurge for years but our patronage was a mere trifle to them.
The kitchen did accommodate a vegan diet in a beautiful way. The servers lack of interest in making any accommodation was just such a disappointment. It was so upsetting to be lied to and to be treated so disdainfully.
Creative food for the most part. The experience made you love veggi. The set menu takes over 2 and half hours. A bit long for the second seating that starts at 9pm.
The ambience was pleasant. Yet, toward the end of the meal around 11, the dining place was interrupted by constant restaurant workers who move large crate of ingredients into restaurant for next day. They literarily walked right through many tables full of restaurant guests. Thought I saw a leg of a pig. Quite unexpected experience.
Every time I eat here it’s the best meal I’ve ever had
Very fresh cuisine but very simple without much imagination. Clearly farm sourced so concept respected. However nothing which evokes the wow factor. Service lacking correct form compared to level we expect in Europe. However staff very nice. Always too noisy in US restaurants and this was again the case. Good choice of wines though.
Absolutely divine food and service. I have been wanting to come here for a very long time and it exceeded my expectations. Beautiful setting, busy but not overcrowded, the food was wonderful and the wine matching was perfect. The amuse-bouches were as fine as I had anywhere and were a massive part of the meals success. I thought the dessert dishes were the weakest element of the meal but to be fair I have a more savoury palate.
Amazing experience. Truly innovative cuisine with the freshest, flavorful ingredients. Blue Hill is an absolute must if you are in Manhattan!
A disappointing evening, we expected something mindblowing given the star but got decent. The first 2 dishes were amazing! The combination of flavors was great. Also the bread and butter, loved it.
But for the next course we both chose the beef. It looked nice, the flavor was okay, but it was not tender at all. One part was so chewy, my girlfriend had to spit it out because she was not able to swallow it...
The desert was strawberries with some white chocolate mousse, very basic, however not special at all.
So, unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this place. If you pay so much money you'd expect everything is perfect and to experience new flavors. It was decent but not worth the amount of money we had to pay at the end.
The prix fix meal had extraordinary and original choices: Asparagus with Apricots, broccoli I with bresseola. Main entree of pork loin was superb but grass-fed beef was a little difficult to cut and chew. I blame it on grass fed rather than chef. Kobe beef would be better! Blue Hill was very gracious and insisted on comping us although we didn't want them to. Will go back there again// to try the Stone Farm site,
Blue Hill is beyond amazing, the staff, food, wine.... we will be back. the only thing that I will mention (and this is very very minor) was the soundtrack, listening to Mick Jagger (one of my absolute favorites) just did not pair as well with the extraordinary cuisine - luckily the wine pairing fared better (incredible) Bravo to Blue Hill !
An absolutely amazing experience and worth coming from far afield for. Staff were friendly and helpful, the food was fresh and seasonal and you could taste all the flavours individually. We can’t wait to come back next time we are in NYC.
Exquisite dishes featuring ingredients at the peak of their season. While delicious I would recommend going bigger and bolder. You can still hit the subtle marks without staying with the tiny portion theme. Bring size into the next edition and you will see it not only brings curiosity to your table but envy, and with that a new challenge to meet.
Amazing dining experience! Incredible service, delicious food, perfect atmosphere.
I took my mom for mother’s day dinner here and the experience was absolutely exquisite!! Recommend 100%!! Everything is incredible!! Worth every penny!
One of the best dining experiences of my life! The best thing: nothing is overdone - it is just the perfect way to celebrate the ingredients of a meal. Simple and Outstanding. Service is great as well! Best regards from Austria - hope to come back soon!
We came with great hopes and were not disappointed!
Wonderful special occasion spot. Exquisite food and service.
Blue Hill was awesome, with multiple delicious courses. The food was one of the best I have experienced in New York. The service was outstanding as well. I really recommend this restaurant and the overall experience.
Truly a wonderful dining experience. Glad I went!
We were aware of Chef Farber's passion about fresh, farm food and were not disappointed. The tastes, presentations and staff were seamless in delivery of our experience.
We came al the way from the Netherlands to eat at Blue Hill, we loved evry plate great taste en very nice plated!
Thnx for the great experience
Next time we are going to visit the farm
Service was impeccable, staff was very attentive to our needs and food was very fresh and tasteful. We would definitely go again and recommend this place to anyone.
excellent for vegetables, extremely mediocre for meats/fish
Blue Hill was, by far, the most incredible experience I’ve ever had eating food. Wow! And not just the food, which was the greatest thing I’ve ever had, the whole production was outstanding. The service, the attention to detail, the entire staff... I’m still trying to get over it 3 days later. Well worth the price - the value was off the charts. Experience this place!
Everything was perfect - very friendly service, amazing food, special wine, romantic atmosphere (we were seated in the garden)
Always a great time at Blue Hill which to me is the best restaurant in NYC. Food is phenomenal and the staff are the best. True service at its best. Thank you
I don’t live in NY but this was my second time here and so glad I came back! The quality of the food is amazing and beyond fresh. Everything is beautifully prepared as well. It’s “nice/casual” inside so it’s not a stuffy environment. Like everything about it and I’ll be back on the next trip!
I came here to celebrate an engagement and it was the right place for the occasion. Prior to dinner, I called the restaurant to inform them of the engagement, and when we arrived the staff offered my fiancee and me a complementary glass of champagne and their congratulations. Little touches like these make all of the difference. I ordered the tasting menu and my fiancee ordered from the standard menu, and both were spectacular. Each course was unique, memorable and unbelievably fresh. The stand-outs from the tasting menu were the "First of the Asparagus" and the Grass Fed Beef. Also, given the quality of the food and the level of service, the price was very fair. I would highly recommend.
Blue Hill was an amazing dining experience and I’m looking forward to going back during another season!
Great service, wonderful food. Great for any occasion!
My husband and I had a wonderful time at Blue Hill to celebrate our anniversary. The food was incredible and the service was great. We look forward to coming back.
Outstanding! Amazing food and service
It was a very nice evening. Excellent food and a very attentive service
Was an amazing experience. Went for my girlfriend's birthday and everything from the ambiance to food and pace was perfect.
No fault of the restaurant but couple next to us was speaking inappropriately about things the entire time we were eating and it ruined my husbands birthday dinner and the entire experience as we were both very uncomfortable the entire time.
We got the adventurous tasting, the first few dishes were great, but didn't end strong. Service was a little delayed. Our 8 course meal took over 3 hours but not in the good prolonged experience way. We got put in the garden patio (which sounded nice at first) but then seemed to have gotten forgotten. When we finished our meal (we were the last two in the patio), we walked out and learned how much livelier the front of the restaurant was. Overall, I think we were overly hyped from the Netflix special, add in the slow service, it as an okay experience.
Amazing dinner and fantastic service. The food was delicious.
A delightful experience that was perfectly curated and presented. The food itself was truly stunning, with delicately balanced flavors, intriguing texture combinations, and the highest quality ingredients.
The dining alone was more than worth the trip to NYC, but the wonderful service that was polite, informative, and engaging helped complete the experience.
I can absolutely recommend Blue Hill for anyone who wishes to enjoy delectable, unique dishes in a relaxed and polished atmosphere.
amazing. everything from the service, to the food, to the extra touches that made this experience go from fantastic to beyond expectations. they had a HAND WRITTEN birthday card waiting my arrival, and brought an extra special course of cake to celebrate my birthday. you did not disappoint, Blue Hill. Thank you for making my experience here so memorable.
