Hadn't been there for many years and am VERY happy to discover it again. Everything was perfect!
This is my absolute favorite restaurant. It has the best cuisine, by far, than any other restaurant in the Greater Princeton area. If you have not dined here, you are missing out.
If you enjoy Le Bernadin Restaurant in NYC, then please enjoy The Blue Bottle Cafe. I am never disappointed enjoying The Blue Bottle.
A great restaurant! Great food, service, staff! A favorite for us and everyone who joins us!
With dates terra cotta tile floor and white stucco walls.. the decor leaves a good bit to be desired. But dates, friends and families filled the space w warm vibes.. the servers were sweet, attentive and knowledgeable.. and the food... tres magnifique! So so good. Everything we tried.. from purée of mushroom soup w truffle oil and grilled octopus w saffron sauce.. Phenomenal Bay Scallops.. a killer veal dish and a fabulous bananas foster tart dessert.. All was simply delicious. I had heard this place was good... it far exceeded that term. It was really really great. And as it was a quicky, belated bday celebration.. it was really on the $$ for that. And it’s BYOB.. so bring some nice bottles and enjoy!
Blue Bottle Cafe is one of our favorite places to bring out-of-town guests to the area. When we do, they routinely say - "this is so close to your home, you must come here all the time!!" (which of course we do) The menu is routinely spectacular (using routinely - because you can always count on something very special).
Our experience was mixed. We were the first restaurant customers and were seated in the “greenhouse” room which was in the back and had very little ambience. I ordered the Blue Bottle mixed greens salad which was absolutely fantastic. However the main entree of Sea Bream on a bed of risotto was totally tasteless and what taste it did have was overly fishy. They included some grilled shrimp which were also tired and tasteless. My wife ordered the sea scallops and she felt they were excellent. We ordered the strawberry shortcake and banana foster financier which were both very well prepared and tasty. I would probably try this restaurant again but would stay away from ordering Sea Bream .
Couldn’t have been better!
I thought the sea bream made an excellent entrée for a warm summer evening. This was straddled by a very creative duck ravioli starter and a decadently delicious chocolate dessert. All of this was nothing short of outstanding
This is one of our favorite places - we're locals. The food is always outstanding and they do a great job of having some dishes to count on (Blue Bottle salad!) and new, seasonal dishes. We love BB!
We were VERY DISAPPOINTED. It was my wife's birthday and they stuck us back In the DARK, cold, glassed-in patio, with absolutely zero ambiance. Our server very inattentive to us. I asked for butter and had to go the kitchen myself. The AC was cranked up, and we both froze. We arrived at 7:00 PM and ate two baskets of bread because we were so hungry by the time we were served our salad around 8:00. I believe our entrees arrived around 8:30-8:45. The food was very good, but not worth the trip and wait. NEVER AGAIN.
Great meal perfectly prepared with beautiful presentation.
Awesome dinner once again! The spring rolls are unbelievable! Lamb shank cooked to perfection!! Love love this restaurant
Love it when Aaron and Rory change up the menu! Shrimp and grits! Octopus! You'd be hard pressed to find this degree of skill and imagination in 95% of the restaurants in NJ.
One of the finest in the Mercer County. More than a dozen years old, this small BYOB restaurant is well managed by the Chef and his wife. Long tenured servers make the experience a pleasant and efficient affair. The menu, for the Father's Day Prix fix included the old reliables mixed with innovative new items. Great ingredients prepared well. Moderately priced. There are three small dining rooms and the interior sun-room is the most cozy and quieter. The larger middle room at the entrance can get noisy and even boisterous with large parties. Highly recommended for all occasions.
Great foo and service. Aaron and Rory never disappoint.
The Blue Bottle consistently has great food and attentive service
My wife and I shared 3 appys -- the mushroom soup, the octopus, and the burrata. All 3 were ample, perfectly prepared, and delicious. Definitely left us wanting more. Then she had the scallops entree, and I had the veal. Imaginative composition, excellent preparation, and top-shelf ingredients led to some Wows. And our server, Joe, was knowledgeable, personable, efficient, attentive, and very helpful. All around, a great experience.
All my friends gave Blue Bottle Cafe the highest possible ranking. Three of them came from Munich, one came from the University of Chicago. All four of them enjoyed very much the dinning experience and the fine service. Walter Hinderer
It was warm and inviting. The food was to die for. Can’t wait to go back again.
My second visit...wonderful as the first. Brought 2 friends who were equally pleased. Our server was particularly gracious.
We have lived in Hopewell for more than 10 yrs and have often planned to try Blue Bottle but this was our first time - it won't be our last. Excellent food, beautifully prepared and presented. Two of us had the gnocchi starter with ramps and two had the octopus, which my wife said was "scrumptious." Crab duet (softshell and crabcake) was proclaimed 'fabulous'; I had the local diver scallops, incredibly fresh and redolent of the sea. Sea bream was very good, just not up to high standard of the other dishes. We shared profiteroles for dessert--also good. Owner was omnipresent and solicitous. Blue Bottle is probably the best restaurant in the Princeton area.
We ordered from their Wednesday "Locals Night" menu. Included for one price were a choice among 4 appetizers, 4 main courses, and 4 desserts. All I can say is everything was perfectly cooked and beautifully plated, and was absolutely delicious. Just wonderful!
Everything was delicious. Great attention was paid to preparation and plating our dinners. Our server was very attentive and helpful. We sat in the front room off to the left and my only complaint was that there were two tables that were very loud. However we will be back as a want to share this terrific spot with my foodie friends!
The service was terrific and endearing. The meal was outstanding, every course and down to the last bite. We will be returning as soon as we can.
Outstanding lamb shank! As usual, everything is up to the high standard expected.
Had a great luncheon celebrating a college graduation. We had a lovely room to ourselves. The gracious hostess even put flowers in a vase of water for us. Lee our sever was attentive and helpful. Had delicious burrata and arugula for an appetizer and double crab cake appetizer into an entree with mixed greens and frittes. Food was great, everyone enjoyed. Menu a little more limited than I hoped. Desserts also delicious. Will be back during dinner and hoping for more expansive menu.
Good ambience, good food, good service. Highly recommend.
Because I am hearing impaired I always choose p restaurants where I have a chance of hearing my dining companion(s). I also tend to dine at times that are unlikely to be crowded. At 1PM the environment was just right. Excellent food & service makes this a "go-to" restaurant.
We've been going here for years. The food from bread, appetizers, entrees to dessert are consistently outstanding-tasty, with different textures and combinations, and sauces. Simply, the food is terrific. Added to this is the staff is always knowledgeable, friendly, and accommodating. On top of all this, it's a BYO with a liquor store down the street that will deliver if you forget to bring your own. It can't get better than this folks!!! The owner is always on site too which is why it stays consistently outstanding.
Blue Bottle Cafe is our favorite restaurant. It never fails. The best Mother's Day destination.
We have never had a bad experience at this cafe. The food is always great, the service is friendly and efficient. My wife and I consider this one of the top restaurants in the area. Thanks for a memorable mother's day to all!

First visit! Loved everything. The food was amazing and the service was friendly. Would make the long drive again- it's worth it!
Amazing food and ambiance! Only wish they were more vegan friendly!
A local treasure that makes every dining experience a delight.
Absolutely the best Restaurant in the area...consistently excellent food...a changing and inventive menu...excellent service...and friendly people. Well worth making the trip to Hopewell.
The Blue Bottle Cafe has quickly become the FAVORITE spot to take beloved family and friends for lovely experiences. The menu is limited, by design, but outstanding. Every single dish is outstanding.
The owners of Blue Bottle wisely maintain the quality by not expanding, exploring new tastes and recognizing their clientele
BYOB doesn't hurt, either..
I especially liked the special menu for those who endure the detour. Smart thinking.
We met up with friends we haven't seen in awhile. The wife is vegetarian so there were plenty of options for her. The food was delicious and the service was great. Our server was very attentive, but not too much. It's nice to be able to bring your own bottle of wine too! We really enjoyed it and will definitely be back!
