Blackwall Hitch - Alexandria
Food was excellent. Musician was nice.
Nice place for happy hour, good drinks and food with live music.
Service was not good this time. Nasty hostess and lazy waiter. They didn't sit our table for 30 minutes even WITH a reservation. But I love the food and atmosphere so I will be back on a different day.
Second time here. First time bomb. This time trash. Reservation ignored ..seated 40 minutes late. Entree came cold, sent back ...wrong entree came out the second time 🤷🏽♀️. A total bad experience....not sure what happened Unfortunate because I really enjoy this place.
The location and venue are great! Definitely worth a dinner. The food was mostly seafood, which neither me nor my date are big seafood fans, but she found something she liked and I enjoyed the fish. The vibe is upscale but casual and right on the Potomac. We enjoyed our meal and the scenery. Service was slow, but was understandable for a busy Saturday night. Our night might have been skewed as it seemed it was also prom night.
*This was not my first visit to this restaurant*
Our completely disinterested waitress (who disappeared for about 20min after taking our orders-- fortunately, we were able to grab other waitstaff) advised that the menu had been changed just two weeks ago. The french fly flight used to be one of those most fun apps on the menu! Nonetheless, we ordered mussels (very bleh) and wings for apps. Underwhelmed. Our entrees came and we were even more disappointed. The only saving aspect: the atmosphere. I doubt we'll return anytime soon...
Over priced, unprofessional management team, and poor service
The food was fare, the ambiance is best if seated outside, the indoors was very noisy and were shouting at each other for most of the meal. It was hard to hear any music. Because the bar is open and near the dining area, the sports fans cheers were annoying. The bathrooms were a mess and there was stalls without toilet paper-beware.
What a disappointment! My sister, niece and I were so looking forward to our experience based on reviews that we read online. Regretfully we were seated at a very noisy table in the bar area even though we asked for a dining room area. We waited a few minutes longer than usual for a server to approach for us. We asked for water to drink and for a few minutes to look at the menu. After Perusing the offerings, we decided on our orders and ordered our meals, A bottle of wine and two glasses. 25 minutes later after watching other tables who had arrived after us being served drinks and bread we went to approach a manager. We were unable to catch the eye of our waitress. The manager assured us that everything would be turned around and we would have a delightful experience and then he left us and ran upstairs. At that point, when all of us were standing, our meals were brought to the table. We had asked for a side substitution and the incorrect side was presented to us that was different from the original side or the different one we had ordered. Additionally it was very evident that the salmon was well over cooked. The waitress told us she couldn’t find wine glasses, everyone was rather in a tizzy, and we decided that it was time to leave. Even when we left 40 minutes after we arrived we were told they could turn it around for a marvelous experience. Our waitress spent a lot of time with the large party to which she was assigned that we feel like really took away from our experience there. Fortunately we were able to go just across the sidewalk to the Chart House , we’re seated in less than 20 minutes and it was a lovely seat on the waterfront, The noise level was conducive to conversation, and we had a full delicious CORRECT meal less than 20 minutes later. WE turned our evening around!
The food was okay, overpriced for the amount. The risotto with scallops and shrimp was $30 ... two scallops and two shrimp with a few bites of risotto. We ate after we left the restaurant because we were still hungry.
The experience was amazing. The music was on point, we almost didn't want to leave because the music was so good. The food was really good. Our waiter went above the call of duty. We're definitely going back again soon.
Mother’s Day brunch!!
I always enjoy dining at Blackwall Hitch. I took my mom and grandma for Mother's Day and we had a great time. Our waitress, Money, was outstanding! She was very attentive, personable, and she ensured that my mom and grandma had a lovely time.
My experience was wonderful and very pleasant. Food was delicious and my mother was very happy on this Mother’s Day.
Great band was playing and the food was excellent. Though we loved the band, it was difficult to hold conversation.
We really enjoyed ourselves and loved the live music
I had a great time. Great service.
Great spot. Planned a dinner here where I proposed to my fiancee. The manager was very accomodating in helping me stage the scene. Oh yeah, GREAT FOOD...
We got a babysitter and wanted a nice dinning experience (another couple and ourselves). 3 of the meals were ok (not good, just ok), risotto was slightly undercooked. The service was terrible. An appetizer never came out, our food arrived before our drinks (the wrong beer was brought for one member). We won't ever be returning here.
For a 30+ dollar plate dinner I would expect quite a bit more. There was no salad, no bread, you literally order your meal and a drink and that's it. Service was nothing spectacular. The view, if you sit in the right place is actually pretty. But, for the value and what you pay the view could be had from another many places along the waterway. I dont see myself coming back
It was a miserable rainy night but our waitress was so upbeat we forgot about it- food was done well - the risotto with shrimp and scallops was incredible- however the fish dish was a little overdone BUT our waitress replaced it quickly and the 2nd fish plate was perfect- The management has trained the wait staff right- they give Excellent customer 2 thumbs up!!!
Mother’s Day brunch
Very loud. Food and drinks took long. Server could barely hear taking order. Large menus stayed on the table for the duration of our stay.
Food was great, the restaurant is incredibly loud and makes it hard to hold a conversation unless you are screaming. The waitress was lacking any enthusiasm and half of the cocktail menu was depleted for some reason on the Friday night that we were there. We’ve learned that this restaurant is a hit or miss depending on what night you go.
There must be serious communication staff and the kitchen. I asked the waitress if I could get the chicken wrap without cheese. I do not eat cheese and was told I could have the wrap without it. After a very long wait for our food, it finally came. The wrap had cheese. I finally got the attention of the waitress and she said she was sorry and would replace it promptly. After another long wait, the replacement wrap came...ALSO WITH CHEESE. My friend had just about finished with her lunch by now and I have up as we had to leave. The restaurant did credit me for the uneaten wrap, but it was a very disappointing experience.
I've eaten at Blackwall Hitch before and had a great experience. I'm only basing this review on lack of information. My group arrived at 2:30 for our 3:00 reservation. We were told that the hours between 3 and 4 were used for dinner prep. During this time only drinks and appetizers would be served. We were celebrating a special occasion and would have appreciated advance notice in order for us to plan accordingly. Unfortunately, we did not stay and I would recommend that when making a reservation during this time, parties are informed of their options.
Food was terrible. One of the three meals served were OK. The rest were inedible. One of the taco meals actually had a full lime wedge (including the peel!) embedded in the taco. The fish special smelled so "fishy" it couldn't be eaten. The burger was fine. The 4th meal, while ordered with the rest, never showed up.
The beer served at the table was warm and flat. (It wasn't at the bar where the beer was fine - meaning the server left the beer at the bar for extended amounts of time.)
Unfortunately, while the ambiance and location are great overall - terrible experience. Stay away!
Beautiful outdoor deck with great views of National Harbor. Food is delicious and service is prompt and courteous.
The service by Carly was fantastic! She recommended the cheese and charcuterie board which was better than our meal.
They were out of several items on the menu. Did not even have the garnish for our mixed drinks. If you are spending $14 for a martini you should get olives. Food was ok.
Sadly not worth trying again!
Excellent service and beautiful venue! Nice vibe ana plenty of space.
our table was not ready for 1/2 hour after reservation
Great service by Brianna and food was great too.
I would not recommend this restaurant as a brunch spot. The way they handled my reservations and another party that had a reservation was very unprofessional. They wanted my husband and I to sit oustside because the inside had already been reserved. Even though we had a reservations. The manager FINALLY moved some things around and had us seated along with the other party that was waiting, but that was after we waited 35 minutes to be seated. I will not be back and it ruined my husband birthday weekend.
Absolutely beautiful location, but the worst service in Old Town. We had to wait 15 minutes for server to notice us. Finally received drinks 1/2 hour after being seating. We never received silverware. Asked two different waitstaff members to bring silverware and napkins. He delivered two sets for party of 4 people. We also inadvertently left a bar tab open, and the bartender added a 20% tip and the card is now missing ( closed the account). The restaurant needs to improve its waitstaff! So unprofessional.
Great restaurant! View and ambiance were outstanding! Perfect for romantic date night.
This was my first visit and we really liked it!! Made me look good with company from out of town. Only comment is the noise level was a bit high. But the service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the pricing seemed just right. We even got a very nice table next to the window. I'll be back!
The food is good but a little overpriced, and the service was fine but really slow. It's a nice location to see the Potomac on a nice day, especially if you are able to sit outside, but I wouldn't come here just for the food.
Great food and atmosphere. Our waitress was great and very attentive. The other staff who brought food out to table did not return with silverware as promised.
