All around excellent experience
A friend and I wanted to go to Benihana but knew we had to bring our kids so we made the first available reservation to avoid crowds and luckily we did! Our chef was amazing! He really catered to the kids, but was great with the whole table. The food was amazing! Even better than I expected. I cleared my plate, which rarely happens. Seriously great experience!
Arrived at 8pm, seated at 8:15, drinks at 8:35, no cooking until 9pm, over by 9:30pm for a table of 8
Slow service. 10 minutes to get drink order another 15 wait for it. 40 mins in to finally have the chef at the table and my food was prepared last when everyone is almost done with their meal after I have asked to have my meal cook the same time as others at the table. Spent 2 hours at dinner. Pretty long for meal. We’ve been coming here for years, but tonight is not one of the best!
Everything chef Felipe made was burnt except for the chicken in the rice and no flavor. Don’t think chicken was cooked all the way. Was sick after

Very slow. We sat for 45 min waiting for the food to start being cooked. Our reservation was at 845 and we got seated at 9pm. Didn’t leave there until 1040. Horrible experience
They give you your rice, whether fried or just white, by the time you get your entree your rice is hard and cold.

We had a good time. The service was great and the food was delicious. The filet mignon melted in your mouth like butter. It was the most tender filet mignon I have ever had, I was so impressed. It was a great way to celebrate a 60th birthday! We'll definitely be going back!
Bathrooms are absolutely disgusting. Shame on you for your bathrooms! Our cook half-assed it and didnt seem to want to be there. You can tell the difference in his performance as opposed to the other tables. Fried rice was not as good as usual.
The answer is yes and no that I would recommend. The franchise in SD has taken a dive since it has been around. Decor and infrastructure has aged quite a bit. Prices are very high for mediocre food. Our waiter was attentive, but who wouldn't when each table seats up to 10 people. Our chef was good, but I have seen better. Our kids enjoyed it, which really brings us to the final note. We were there for a Bday celebration, kids had not been before. That is pretty much what you are paying for, entertainment with food. On another note my son left is unopened bday card and I called immediately after leaving and the person who answered the phone was less than attentive to want to recover it or have empathy to its lost. Upside someone at the restaurant is $40 richer. In the end we wont be returning and would recommend with prudence.

In all honesty we come here for the rice. Hands down there's nothing like it. We had Isaac as our chef along with Yuki; they were wonderful. Yuki was so kind and sweet to us. Isaac was hilarious and prepared some beautiful food for us. Next time we go we are definitely asking for Isaac. Highly recommend him, the restaurant, the food...the whole experience.

About my 25th time in a row that I celebrated my birthday with you. Except for 12 years ago when you burned down due to the grease fire I. One of your roof vents. That time we went to your Escondido location. Lol
Bad service by waitress. We waited 40 minutes, before we got our drinks. And didn't get our cook until 1:30. Our waitress was very rude at first, and told us they were down help.

This place is dinner & a show! It’s a fun atmosphere, with great food, and service! Fun for the family, and the chefs are fantastic! Definitely a go to for a special occasion, or when friends come in to town.
It was fun and they were very attentive and asked right away how we are doing along with the occasion. It was a very interactive environment whether it was with customers like ourselves or with the employees.
The hostess gave our seats to another guest stating they requested them after we were at the table. It was awkward & uncomfortable. We never experienced anything like that at Benihana before. 😔 ⭐️

We love to come eat here on special occasions and have never had a problem with service. This time was different. The server for our table did not want to be at work. When others at the table asked about the birthday club because I had coupon he shrugged his shoulders and said "I don't know I only work here"... I mean yeah that is why the people are asking you. Asking the waiter for anything seemed like an inconvenience. when the Chef arrived it made everything better and he made our night better. He was very passionate about his job. When we were done and the waiter asked about anyone wanting ice cream, someone asked what green tea ice cream was he responded " I don't know. Green tea. Ice cream. I don't know how else to explain it. " Yeah that man was not wanting to be there that day.
Fausto our cook was excellent n fun. He really keep us entertained. He cook the meat exactly how I wanted it. Thank you!
I made the reservation to celebrate my birthday and a childs birthday. I had my $30 off coupon and booked under the assumption I would be able to use it. I called a couple days before my reservation to confirm time and ask if I had to print the coupon and confirmed the day I was coming. The hostess confirmed me for Sunday the 12th and informed me that I did not have to print. Upon arrival and sitting down the server informed me that I was not allowed to use the coupon on a Sunday. Well, why would the hostess say I was all set to go. I was bothered and kept waiting to speak to a manager but none arrived. The positive of the experience was the Chef, Hector. He was amazing and put on quite a show for my 4 year old birthday boy. My steak although cooked to my request was tough. The server was slow on water and hot tea refills, and never brought over the extra kids menu we had requested when the one we had ripped. Overall I won't return and will spend my money somewhere else with better customer service.

I used to love benihana, been a while since I have been and the overall quality is awful now. Starting with the soup and salad they have changed their recipe to what seems like a cheap lack of flavor substitute. The steak was also a very low grade as compared to on previous visits in the past. Needless to say I won't be visiting them again and really wish they would have kept the quality of food and ingredients... especially since their prices are daily high and would expect quality food.

I just want to say that our chef was excellent and very entertaining. It was my granddaughters 25th birthday and she felt so special.. food was awesome! One useue was that my granddaughter never received her birthday certificate in her email..she signed up a week and 1/2 before her birthday it would have been nice to use.

We went for my husband's 66th birthday. We arrived a little early and they were able to accommodate us. The waiter and the chef were awesome and the environment was clean and energetic. We had a great time with our family and grandchildren!!

It was our son’s birthday and he loved it! Only downfall is they do not offer a military or senior discount (neither). When you have a large party that little bit would help a lot.

Everyone receives a $30 gift certificate every year for the birthday and this was mainly the reason we booked with several others that day - my gift certificate said EXPIRES 1/8/20 AND they did not accept it anymore saying it was expired- will never go back to that place- we did this tradition many years just this year we couldn't go earlier but if you say 'expires 1/8' then it should still be valid that day. And I emailed next day and customer service just sucks right there and also backdoor - no help they didn't even try to make me happy - i would 've gone again and spend even more money - very disappointing won't go again

Our server was excellent. I wish I had gotten his name. Our chef was the best we have had in a very long time. We visit Benihana about 2 times a year for as long as I can remember, and Tyrone (our chef) was energetic, interactive, and just plain fun. A nice break from the norm.

The only issue we had was with the hostess station in the front. They definitely need to learn customer service skills. We had reservations, which they sat us on time, but it’s how the main hostess addressed us and how the one seating us didn’t even greet us. It was (Main hostess)take this group and these two but the other hostess didn’t even get us and then when we asked the main hostess, if we were supposed to go she didn’t even look up and said YEAH! Unprofessional, I don’t care how busy it may be, but first impressions are everything. They will never get our money again, and it’s a shame because the food is great.
