A little over priced ... for the amount of food I received...... it was a long wait even tho we had a reservation .... the atmosphere was nice and the assistant manager Mike was great
Poor customer service
Very horrible dining experience
I'm rooting for this Benihana, but there's room for improvement. I always enjoy the food, but the ambiance at this location could use some work. It's very dark and semi-depressing. Restrooms could stand to be renovated. We had 6:30 reservations and the chef appeared at 7:12. I was a little leery of sharing a table with others due to Covid, but we were on one end of the table and a party of 3 was on the other. I would NOT have been comfortable if a party were seated at the middle seats. Enjoyed the spicy hibachi shrimp and Kappa Collins drink. I just expect a better overall experience when spending $100 for dinner...and if you drink, that's about the going rate here for 2.
Staff did not wear masks properly over noise. Service was awful. The place was way too crowded.
The food was good and the service/ watching while they cooked was a good experience.
The restaurant was very cold. We ate with our coats on. Also, the restaurant was poorly stocked: one of our party ordered a Bloody Mary and was told they didn’t have Bloody Mary’s. I ordered ice tea, but they didn’t have iced tea either. When we tried to order dessert, we were told that they had only chocolate or vanilla ice cream or rainbow sherbet. I ordered rainbow sherbet. The. Waitress served others their ice cream and then told me they didnt have rainbow sherbet. I said then I would have vanilla ice cream. The waitress then brought us the check — before she brought my ice cream. A really unpleasant experience!
The food was fantastic and Benihana had its patrons probably socially distanced. My family and I felt completely safe eating there.
Good was horrible .. server was inattentive
We had a 6:30 PM reservation but were not seated until after 7:15 PM. Everything else was REALLY great. The chef prepared the meal with all the skill and style that Benihana is noted for and the food was very good.
This place offers a unique experience from start to finish. First when you arrive be prepared to wait at least 45 minutes to be seated, and just be waiting with no explanation whatsoever, definitely you'll see many people running around including managers that couldn't care less to explain people the reason of waiting or even look at you, at least 4 managers will be focusing their time on togo orders, which is funny. There is no effort when it comes to give a good first impression! Then, when you finally get seated you can ignore the server that gives you really poor service because the show is really provided by the chefs and I hope they get rewarded accordingly!
The food is really good overall but this place definitely needs to show more appreciation for people's time!
The only issue I had was being seated with other people. If I had known this, would not have come. Will wait until COVID is over or better handled before going back.
I came in from out of state, made reservations weeks in advance, only to show up to be told they were not doing dine-in service.
The food is great but it always takes a long time to pay and get out. We do bring gift cards normally, but that shouldn't be an issue.
Went for my birthday. Always love their food compared to other Japanese restaurants. The rice is to die for.
I come here at least three times a month. I am usually served by Calleb, and he’s great.
In the past month, I’ve come 5 times, I am a true lover of Benihana. Anyway, we decided to come in on Sunday 12/13, we were served by John, super slow service, his attitude was inattentive, I asked several times for spicy Mayo, he kept bringing me yum yum sauce, I pointed it out, he didn’t know any difference and reassured me it was what I had asked for. Like I said I come VERY often so I know the difference. He didn’t care and walked away.
I asked for a chicken fried rice that took longer than the sushi order and he said because they run out of chicken for my order. Like what?
Beyond dissatisfied and annoyed by the service.
I came back the next day and Caleb got everything right, thankfully. But a waste of almost $50 because i didn’t enjoy the service, the food, or the ambiance. (There were kids running around without a mask)
Entertainment and delicious food prepared right in front of you. Fresh ingredients and delicious seasonings made for a great meal.
The chef made this “woot woot” noise all the time. It was overly annoying. The decor was run down and tacky looking, yet they had the nerve to have a sign suggesting proper dress code. The chef messed up my order, my son’s order, and my husband’s order.
I had set in the OpenTable noted that it was my son’s birthday. We watched was several staff came to sing to another table. I had to remind our server that it was my son’s birthday and we got only my son singing to him.
When my husband and I ordered no mushrooms, he put mushrooms in them - then when we told him we had ordered no mushrooms, he just picked them out. Thankfully we just don’t like mushrooms and were not allergic.
My son ordered medium rare and the chef game him rare. I ordered rare and received medium. When I mentioned that, he just ignored me and went on his merry way. I left extremely dissatisfied. This was one of the worst Japanese steak houses I have ever been to - and yet was the most over priced piece of worthlessness.
I even had the joy of getting some digestive issues after eating there.
We went here at lunchtime to celebrate a birthday. Fortunately they were only seating people that came together with one another. There was only one table occupied and several carryout orders being picked up. We were greeted by a very friendly employee who seated us and offered to hold our cupcakes for us until we needed them. We were quickly greeted by our waiter for drink orders and then food. It took a while for out chef to come cook for us but he was friendly, interactive and was very clear about all that he used and was doing. He applied sanitizer and then a clean apron out of a bag - we appreciated the extra sanitation effort. He mad e a cute heart out of the rice. The food was good. The soup is more flavorful than its competitor (Sakura) and their bento box was more plentiful than its competitor (Koi). The variety of their menu beats all its competitors! I was able to pick which two meats/seafood for my combo for the same price which would’ve cost more elsewhere. Sakura’s fried rice is better though.
Our waiter sang a good luck bday song to my daughter and made her do a dance which was unique! Enjoyed the experience and the company. When we left there were only 3 other tables occupied.
The original and beat place to eat.
Horrible we didn’t stay and didn’t eat
If I had never eaten at a different Japanese Steak house this rating might have been better. The food and atmosphere were good, but there are many other places that give more food and better service for a lot less money. We paid $175.00 with tip for 3 adult meals and 2 kid meals.
Excellent customer service. The food was incredible. Drinks were good as well.
Great experience!! Celebrated our daughters 8th bday. Clean, the cooks disinfected in front of us and guest was spread out accordingly.
Family really enjoyed their first visit to a Benihana’s.
We had a nice time and the service was great. I’d definitely recommend
My waitress and my chef were excellent. My guests and I did not have to ask for drink or anything else that was needed. Our waitress was on it and she was quick. We did not feel rushed, nor did we feel as if we were not being taken care of. Our experience was amazing !
Great place! i love it!
Chief was inexperienced and didn’t make my birthday feel like it felt more as a regular dinner didn’t even acknowledge that it was my birthday or anything for my first experience at Benihana it was totally horrible then the bartender try to charge double and add drinks we didn’t get
The chef and the server were very personable. Benihana's is a great place to celebrate birthdays too.
We arrived early and was seated at a table social distancing from another couple
The experience was good especially due to our current circumstances. Our cook for the night was funny and definitely had a sense of humor while cooking.
The first thing I would like to say is;The Washington DC location is missed! I love Benihana the food is always great they also have a ever changing drink special selection. Our server was John he was very polite and nice it was my son and sisters birthday we normally have a bigger party however Covid 19! My only complaint is that we belong to the Birthday club and I couldn't use mine for my son...my sister used hers since our party was limited they wouldn't honor two
Everything was great. After 30 years plus my grandchildren love to eat here to celebrate their birthday
did not get sat until an hour after my reservation. if you’re restricted because of Covid, dont put that many reservation slots online.
I was not happy with my finding experience. I had a 2:30pm reservation and I was not seated until 3pm. Once I was seated the waiter did not take out order until 3:15pm. The waiter was not attentive at all. I had to go get my refill from the bar. This was the worst experience and they only had 3 cooks for the hibachi tables. I will not be going to this Benihana location again.
Because of COVAD-19 service was disappointing. Bo one answered the phone to let me k OW I had to have a n appointment. Took 45 minutes to sit and another 45 minutes to start cooking the food.
When you go to hibachi you not only go for the food but also the performance of how the chef cooks the food in front of you it’s supposed to be a very interactive exciting experience for the diner. Unfortunately, that’s not what we received at all. From start to finish it was a horrible experience. Not only did our Chef Luis not know how to properly engage us our orders were all incorrect AND to make matters worse our food was extremely bland and unappetizing. The other diners and myself were extremely confused by the type of service and experience we had received from a place like this. I would say that we did order sushi and the sushi was delicious and the only thing that kept me from leaving in the middle of a meal. After our chef had finished cooking I expressed my concerns to the manager on duty and with no accountability or apology for my poor dining experience in a restaurant he should be managing he walked away unbothered. After paying 150 dollars for two meals and drinks it was very very disturbing to see a manager handle the situation in that manner especially when it was seen that no one at the table barley touched their food. I highly wouldn’t recommend this place as there are MANY MANY MANY other Japanese restaurants in the area that’ll provide exceptional service.
Not at all what I expected. Food was ok. Not impressed. There’s a local hibachi in my town that is 1,000,000 times better than Benihana.
