Benares calificaciones y reseñas
Great Food but disappointed that the birthday message cake was not served as promised to my wife (50th birthday) especially after requesting it and receiving an email confirmation
This small request that was not fulfilled spoilt the occasion especially after it being recommended and travelling a long way to visit
This is my second trip to Benares and it was just as great as the first. The cocktails are amazing and you are missing out on the full experience if you don't have one. We had the tasting menu which is sublime. If it's your first time this is the one to go for. It was expensive so not everyday dining but as a special treat definitely worth it.
A hair in my food and no compensation for this - they did give me another starter.
Ordered tea/coffee but never arrived - they gave one signed recipe book to say sorry.
Different servers throughout meal, one of whom constantly spilled water and the sommelier was a bit rude.
However this was a special occasion and the birthday girl enjoyed it!
We travelled from Derbyshire to London for a short weekend break to celebrate my husbands birthday and had wanted to visit Benares for a while so this was the obvious choice of where to eat in the evening on his special day. The whole experience was very good, from the welcome at the entrance, the cocktails whilst we waited for our table, the service and of course exceptional food.
Everything was delicious and it was well worth the trip. Hopefully we will get chance to experience this again soon.
An outstanding dinner experience. I recommend the tasting menu. An Explosion of tastes. Very friendly People there, especially in the Service and also the Sommelier, were great. And the owner -like always- had some friendly words and wanted to know, how Food was. Well, it was fantastic and the whole place is highly recommended.
Great drinks in the bar !
One of the best drinks I have been served ever.
I arrived at 14:00 and that is a bit between somehow, not possible to order tasting meny after that hour.
Not a problem at all for me, just ordered a la carte but made the staff a bit confused ?
It was lunch and we all preferred beer to the food, also cunfused the staff and we didn´t get any
recommendation to our choices on the meny.
Really great, interesting food with relaxed but excellent service in spacious restaurant and were not hurried at all - All enjoyed after lovely cocktails, some unusual, in friendly vibrant bar again with plenty of space, nice atmosphere. Top visit - expensive in total (though prices fine), but definitely worth it for a treat and fun night out.
We had a wonderful evening meal with our friends. Mr Joy looked after us in such an excellent way. He very nicely moved us to the bar area after our meal and organised for celebration drinks. It was a relaxing environment.
Desserts are amazing!!
We took some friend out for a catch-up treat and they were absolutely bowled over by the fantastic food - it is a little pricy but well worth it for a 'special' meal and an entirely different range of Indian food - can't wait to go again x
The taster menu was excellent as was the wine. The whole from bar to dinner experience was quite lovely and would visit again. The cake with candle was a delightful and delicious surprise. All the courses were amazing but the lamb was outstandingly perfect.
A fantastic restaurant with great atmosphere, fantastic food and a great choice of wines and cocktails. The staff are friendly and very amenable to most requests. They service is always very friendly and quick... The staff are always happy to make recommendations. Ideal for business meetings or taking someone special...
Both me and my friend had set meals. We are regulars in Indian scenes and I often dine in Michelin stars restaurants in London.
My feedback on Benares:
1. Ambiance and location: 7/10
2. Service: 3/10 - Service was rushing. We haven’t finished our food, the waiter was rushing collecting the plates. This was rude. We were taking time dining and enjoying conversations. I complained the service and they it took onboard immediately with a slightly better service when they served us with the Mains.
3. Starters: 1/10 - We had Chicken Tikka, and Lamb Shish. The worst Chicken Tikka ever! The chicken was very bland as it was only boiled chicken fillets without any spice. Tasteless! The lamb shish was just ok, nothing special.
4. Starters: 9/10 - Guinea fowl. It was cooked to a perfection with the right amount of spice and not overempowering. Perfect.
5. Mains: 6/10 - Lamb. It was cooked ok, slightly rich and creamy. Right amount of spice. Sides aubergine was ok.
Mains were accompanied with Dhal (lentils). Well, the worst ever Dhal I’ve tasted, very tasteless and watery! I complained to the waiter and he replaced with a different type of Dhal, black lentils and slightly better taste.
6. Mains: 10/10 - Garlic and Corriander Nan. Perfect. The best Nan texture I’ve had. Pilau rice texture was perfect as well.
7: Drinks: Average wine list. Not too bad with the selection and prices.
8. Food presentation: 0/10 - No creativity!
1. Benares (Michelin) vs Talli Joe (non-Michelin) - well, Talli Joe beats Benares anytime. What a shamed.
2. Benares (Michelin) vs Gymkhana (Michelin) - of course Gymkhana beats Benares! I can’t fault Gymkhana.
As a Michelin star restaurant, Benares should improve the standard of cooking and service. Otherwise, strip off the Michelin star!
Food was good... the only downside was it appeared that there was one waiter serving half the restaurant... which meant our courses didn’t come out for some time... indeed, there was 30minutes between course 3 and 4.... far too long! This brought down an otherwise lovely experience.
