Benares calificaciones y reseñas
The bar and cocktails were good.
The food was over spiced to the extent that the with your eyes closed you would not have known that it was crab/cod/venison.
Some very noisy tables combined with low ceilings meant that it was not a quiet relaxing dinner.
We have eaten at the sister restaurant (Indian Essence in Petts Wood) and would prefer that experience by some distance.
Our first time at Benares and we had a really enjoyable evening. The food was amazing! We particularly loved the beautifully spiced tandoori salmon and delicious vegetable side dishes. Portions were generous. Service was charming. Tables are well spaced but the dining room is quite noisy when full and at times we found it difficult to have a normal conversation. Have already booked to go back.
This was well worth the 250 mile round trip. The food lived up to my expectations, absolutely fantastic, a taste bud sensation. A visual delight. The evening started with espresso martini's in the bar which set the standard for the evening. All the staff were extremely attentive and lovely. We will definitely return and I would recommend a visit to anyone that would like to experience Indian food at its best.
Our first visit to Benares to celebrate my husbands new job. It was definitely worth the visit. Food was great, service was excellent and they provided a lovely gesture by giving us two chocolate brownies with a congratulations message. They even moved my time slot by 15 minutes when I called to confirm we were running late. Highly recommended. Indian food with a western twist - loved it!
We decided to opt for the taster menu, mainly because it included Chicken Tikka pie, and everything we tasted was exceptional. I would recommend though, if you do not have a large appetite, to order from the set menu or a la carte as the portion sizes are really generous and those dishes looked awesome too! For the 7 course taster menu we realised during the fifth (fish) course that we were starting to get full and the waiters seemed to expect this so very kindly let us have a recovery break before the stunning lamb main dish and scrummy desert. So in summary I think all the food looked completely amazing and ours tasted so good that we soldiered through all the courses!! Will definitely be tasting Atul's food again!!!!
Friendly reception, lounge for aperitif very nice.
Then move to eating room, too busy and too loud, tables placed far to close one to the other.
Stressed service; not enough time to look at menu, no good advise.
Naan bread ordered with starter come only with main course.
Server served men before women, an absolut no-go for a star-restaurant !!! In fact for any restaurant.
Food ok but below expectations, no sprecial incredients what I expect from a sophisticated indian place.
To expensive to quality.
This visit to Benares was a gift from our three children to celebrate our 45th Anniversary. We went for the fixed price menu and it did not disappoint. Wonderful delicate flavours and very tasty. Our waiter, Ben was very helpful in advising on the different courses. He is an asset to Benares with his knowledge of each dish.
having eaten in Atul Kochar's restaurants on board Azura we dis wonder if it would be similar. It was different although in a lovely way!
Went for my girlfriend's birthday and was simply amazing. Did the verge taster menu and was amazing the food is great. I know many would be scared for prices for and Indian but you are served quality food. Definitely recommend if you want to experience a Michelin star Indian restaurant or celebrate a special occasion
We didn’t enjoy the mini poppadoms, strange texture and the sweet corn fritter also had the most unpleasant texture. Literally stuck to my mouth and teeth!
Seemed very overstaffed, we must have had 7 or so different staff members serving us during our meal.
Benares was outstanding. The staff were attentive and engaging and made the experience truly memorable. The food and wine were superb with every course being of exceptional quality and delightful taste. Highly recommended for a wonderful dining experience.
Just the rose pudding would be worth a visit. The lamb was perfectly tender and balancing the savouriness of the cutlet with the delicacy of the rump.
The food experience is certainly worthy.
Large tables -5 or 6 - may be affected on an overall busy and chatty evening.
We had a fantastic time at Benares celebrating my wife's birthday, it was our third visit in about 5 years, but this time was by far the best. We had the lunchtime menu and everything we had was cooked to perfection. We particularly liked the guinea fowl leg, amazing flavours and so succulent. Can't wait for the next excuse to visit
The poppadoms and chutneys were exquisite and the food only got better. Lovely restaurant, good bar area (although we didn't sit there) and excellent service. Went for a work lunch and had the 3 course offer so also good value. Will definitely go back.
Food was of high quality (although nothing too unique vegetarian wise) however, the service was terrible. For a high end dining experience, this sure didn’t make the cut service wise. It took a while for them to get us menus, had to ask several times just to get water when tables next to us were being served fine. We couldn’t figure out who our actual waiter/ waitress was since several people came (including manager) to serve us and finally take our order. To top off the experience, it was my girlfriend and I’s anniversary, the restaurant had confirmed with me that they would bring a desert out to help us celebrate. However they forgot and only remembered after we paid the check. FAIL! Being from the states, I wanted to have a fantastic Indian vegetarian dining experience with my gf on our anniversary and unfortunately, Benares, wasn’t able to provide that for us. It was a shame.
Myself and my wife were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We chose this restaurant because I have admired Atuls cooking for many years. We were certainly not disappointed. The service and food were amazing. To top it all , Atul took time to come over and speak to us. Highly recommended
