The outside space is set up nicely. The staff was super friendly and responsive. It was a slice of normal in these strange times.
The food was well prepared and seasoned. A southern basis with a local edge. Staff did a good job in attending to our request. Great outdoor seating and with cooperating weather it was very pleasant between storms. even in February
Food was spectacular! Already looking forward to returning!
Valentines Day......overall food was good. Ordered an ole fashion that wasn’t the best to much ice, didn’t ask if they had one cube or ice ball. Beignets were not that great. Would go back and try other food on menu and dessert. Staff was very friendly and professional.
Overall it was great. I knew it would be outside and I knew the current situation of the pandemic. We were colder outside more than expected. The heat wasn’t reaching us. The waiter may have picked up on that and asked us if we wanted to move closer to the heat. My girlfriend and I still had a great time for pre Valentine’s Day dinner :)
Great evening. We were the only guests there at the time and because of covid rules had to sit outside. The heaters worked well and the staff was very attentive without being pushing. Overall it was a great night
Our server was very sweet and personable! We were taking forever looking at the menu (kept getting distracted) and our server didn’t rush us and joked with us a lot and made it a great night :)
What a great dinner! The menu is one that we could literally eat everything that is on it. So hard to make a choice :). Food was perfectly cooked, service was quick, attentive and by very nice people. Duck Tostadas and the Gumbo were standouts to me.
It’s was awesome , the customer service we received was excellent, the waiters were so polite, generous and know what they were doing especially with Covid they took all precautions and were very well kept
Its my neighborhood go to going for NYE sit outside 8 pm
Birthday !
Birthday celebration for my adult son who is an adult and a foodie.
I had the beef brisket hash with poached eggs and my friend has steak and eggs. Service was very good and its was a pleasant Saturday brunch. My only suggestion is that tabasco is fine for bloody mary, not so good on breakfast food or for seafood. I would suggest Crystal or Cholula.
I felt the food flavor was good. I had the shrimp and grits. They said it was Spicy shrimp and grits, but it wasn't spicy. Is that what they meant? It was also a bit salty. My husband had the roasted duck, but didn't know there was pork in it. It would be nice if they can identify when something is pork, because not all people know. Servers were all nice, and friendly. When my husband sent back his roasted duck, they were pleasant about it, quick and provided him with another option.
Everything was excellent - food, service, and value. Three of us went for lunch and everyone was happy with the Apple Salad, Reuben Quesadilla, and Burger. I look forward to returning.
Another amazing meal ! House made pasta with short rib. The pork chop was so flavorful and cooked perfectly. Creme brûlée was the best I’ve ever had! Service superb!
Good place for lunch, brunch or dinner. Service is OK, Could be a bit faster
Small but diverse brunch menu. Gorgeous restaurant with great atmosphere and service.
Food is very good, nice atmosphere, friendly service, prices a bit high for the value, though perhaps not for downtown Bethesda (which is generally high priced). Overall, a nice, friendly place to eat!
Delicious food. great service. Lovely atmosphere. We will be back! Highly recommend your restaurant.
Our server, Jan,was fantastic! Attentive, but never hovered. Let us take our time. Super service!
Food blew me away. Not sure why I possibly had set more reasonable expectations (possibly because of some recent "misses" I had come in with modest goals for what the meal "should" be). The food was insane - the pork chop was delicious and the sides were perfect. We had great oysters, a great server and the ambiance was exactly what we were looking for. I think the pricing is a tad high for Bethesda (more DC pricing, in my view), but didn't feel displeased overall, based on the food and service quality. I'll definitely be going back.
Great food
Great service
Had a lovely brunch here this past weekend. The Southern shakshouka was delicious, as were the complimentary beignets. My husband was unimpressed with the coffee, and he and my mother-in-law felt their meals were fine but nothing spectacular. Service was great and ambiance was great. I'd go back, but probably not make it a priority.
Second time there even better than the first. Everything we had was amazing. Service was great, really enjoyed it...never felt rushed and they were BUSY.
Excellent as always!!
Posted a review and was contacted by owner who said they strive to satisfy. Will visit and give them another try as they have demonstrated a commitment to their guests.
Great creative menu. Went for a business lunch. Service was spot on perfect and unobtrusive.
The food was good and there was a lot of energy for a Sunday, the wait staff seemed a little short for the amount of people they were serving. But the food came out hot and it was delicious.
Okay for brunch but too loud and too impersonal of service for a special occasion
Love the tuna taquitos
We like the chicken and waffles, duck fat fries, butternut squash ravioli, roast duck, and the huge selection of beer, wine, and cocktails.
Excellent service that matched our pace and provided insightful recommendations
This is a pretty good place to go for dinner. They have an excellent wine and beer list, though expensive as are all restaurants these days. My wife and I had excellent fried chicken and waffles, and a very tasty pork chop dish. Noisy -- but the staff were super friendly.
Valentines Day
A great place for lunch or dinner. This time I took a client for a business meeting. The service and food were superb. We had a cat fish wrap which was amazing!
Food was excellent. Restaurant was cavernous and lacked warmth in decor. We were seated right next to a party of two and another of four although the restaurant was empty otherwise. The bar looked warmer and friendlier, but small.
We arrived at about 1:30 and had a very lovely lunch. A friendly, knowledgeable staff member made recommendations for lunch: Trout and Lamb Lamb Bolognese. The portion sizes were right for lunch.
Again, it was a quiet place, the food was good, and the staff were helpful. We'd go again.
It was our first time at Barrel and Crow and we didn't know what to expect.. It looked casual, like a burger and pizza place, but it was anything but. We had a reservation and were 15 minutes early so our entire party wasn't there but guess what..they seated us anyway, I LOVE THAT!! So many places won't do that.. you have to hang around and loiter longingly until the rest of your group shows.. so annoying. (We ordered a lot of cocktails/wine to show our appreciation..) But I digress, The food was amazing.. There were 4 of us..We got the ahi tuna taquitos appetizer to share..think mini tuna tartar tacos ..the flavors perfect balanced ..it practically melts in your mouth with just a bit of crunch....they were the best I've ever had. I could have ordered a lot of more of those and been happy all night...but I got the steak/frites entree,..I know, you're probably wondering why I ordered that when I could've gotten something a bit more complex.. I was simply in the mood for it and duck fat fries are pretty incredible....they upped it a notch and paired it with a truffle aoil/mayo.. it was heaven. The rest of the party got the lamb Bolognese, spiced shrimp and grits and smoked duck breast. I tasted everyone's and each one was better than the next. The service was quick and courteous. It was Saturday night and very busy ..so there was a good amount of chatter but I didn't feel like we couldn't converse as a result. They hussle to make you happy..don't treat you like they're doing you a favor by serving you and the food was really good. So happy for there to be a restaurant where you can dress pretty casually but eat well.. no pizza or burgers. :-) We will definitely go back...it's our new favorite. Hat's off to Barrel and Crow.
This was our first dining experience at Barrel & Crow, and it was a very good one in every respect. We had the tuna tomtits, which were fresh and delicious, followed by the duck tostadas, also yummy. I had a pear salad with greens and candied pecans, and it could not have been fresher. My husband had the lamb rags, and he gave it high marks for tastiness. Our waiter was Paolo, and she was excellent. We will definitely be back to try the other interesting dishes on the menu.
