The food was delicious. The chef was rude. We were a party of 4 with a moderate noise level coming from our table. One of the waitstaff came over and let us know that the chef requested us to lower our voices. At over $500 per person with alcohol, I found this rude and unacceptable. We have dined at many top restaurants around the world, Eleven Madison, etc and have never been “scolded” at our table with our guests.
As my wife likes to say when something is extraordinarily special — “rainbows.” We have eaten at some of the finest restaurants in the world and this one is up there with any of them. It was fabulous in every respect. It was expensive, but it should be. It is fine dining at its finest. My wife and I just cannot say enough about this restaurant and we will be looking forward to dining here again!
Expérience culinaire, visuelle et olfactive.
Un voyage sensoriel.
Rare et magnifique.
À faire par tout amateur de cuisine et de beauté.
Sensationelles Abendessen in sensationellem Lokal. Wir kommen sicher wieder. Selten so gut gegessen. Service, Essen und Getränke waren hervorragend.
What a perfect place for a lovely thanksgiving with my daughter as other family members were scattered.
The setting, the gracious servers, watching the chefs and souls chefs prepare each unique and beautiful dish, and having the chef himself serve us each dish to describe what we would be eating, were all over the top experiences.
Even the music list was perfect! We have enjoyed great chefs and restaurants all over the world and this experience was spectacular!! Worth every great review and star and certainly the Michelin attention. THANK YOU
Outstanding experience again. Creative food which seems harder and harder to get in Manhattan. Great and very attentive service.
Best meal in NYC for fine dining.
Less impressive than other experiential foodie options. It has some maturing to do in terms of balancing the modernist creative with a forager-inspired effort. The service is not impeccable but should be at the price point it commands. The entry-way is not welcoming for the experience itself. It lacks an immersive, curated experience that compliments the food journey it aspires to narrate. The food is good, thoughtful and nicely presented. The elements of taste are less impressive, some bland other dishes a bit too salty. There is an art to being a high-end foodie destination in the world of ultra-competitive dining. It should ignite a curiosity, explore possibilities of what food can achieve and where you senses can be wowed. This is not Atera. If you are looking for an experience, less curated, and more contrived then perhaps it is worth a visit. This is not a place that exudes excellence. It is a place that is still aspirational and needs more craft and ingenuity to excel. The pairing options are more impressive than the meal itself. The ambience, particularly the music selection, is not befitting of the experience. It is a distraction. There service is attentive but not meticulous, something that high commanding restaurants in NY and globally ensure when they charge at this price point. The chefs are focused but not engaging without solicitation. If you want to good food, this is not a waste of time. If you want a memorable foodie experience, this should not be your choice. It is nothing exceptional but not ordinary; it is above average at best.
One of the top 3 meals I have ever eaten!!
Was here 3 years ago ... and I just had to go back (I am from Denmark). This time with my girlfriend. Expectations were very high... but we were not let down. Absolutely amazing experience !
Incredible in every way. If you are a fan of fine dining you will be happy.
The tasting menu was very creative and tasty. I would go back.
An efficient Gastronomic machine with 20 dishes one even better as the other, all on to level...all the original flavors were explicitly expressed... Very friendly service,
The first time I came to Atera was 2016 and they had an outstanding menu and service and pretty impressive. I decided to back here for my birthday and anniversary celebration. This time the new menu still impressed me and my wife and the service was good as what they did the last time - I still hope them could reach the 3 star restaurant and I believe Atera deserves it.
Such an amazing night！The foods were so good，💲308for each person.
Amazing as always!
Overall the food was very good with a few dishes that I felt missed the mark. A big part of the experience is to feel like you are a part of the kitchen and getting to watch the dishes being constructed. We were the only group relegated to a table away from the kitchen, which was a huge disappointment. That coupled with a few dishes that missed the mark and the overall expense, I don’t think I will go back. Too many other amazing restaurants in town.
The great pacing and impeccable attention to detail led to a perfectly curated evening and allowed us to be transported away from the hustle and bustle of the city to a place of comfort, decadence, and peace where our true selves were able to reach actualization.
Always an amazing experience at Atera! Truly memorable, always a pleasure!
Any amazing experience. I surprised my wife for her birthday and it was an awesome experience for both of us. There were 18 courses, plus a special birthday dish for her. The food was excellent, the non-alcoholic drink pairing is a must, and the environment (sights and sounds) is just a cool experience. Very creative courses and tasty drinks, awesome soundtrack. It is on the expensive side but we were very satisfied and would recommend this to anyone that could appreciate it.
Came here for my birthday and it was absolutely fantastic. It’s perfect for a special occasion.
We loved it!
This is the place that, for me, sets the standard for great restaurants.
The frequently-changing tasting menu is invariably astonishing and delightful. The wine pairings are brilliant. The staff are the kindest people you'll meet anywhere, and they have individual personalities! They've taught me that I want not just food with dazzling charisma. I want that charisma in the people as well.
Watching the kitchen team doing their work, serenely and with uninterrupted focus, is a privilege. If you're lucky enough to see this show, you can skip the ballet.
Twice a year I travel from the mountains of New Mexico to New York to do nothing but dine at Michelin-starred restaurants, hit the top pizza places, and catch an opera. My wife exaggerates only slightly when she says that I do nothing in New York but eat and sleep. Each time I plan a trip, the first reservation I make is Atera. May they be there for me always.
Superb. Absolutely delighted with every aspect including the chefs music chose'. Wine course complemented very well. Could not fault even if we were looking for one. Special experience.
Really innovative and good food. But I listed the occasion as my birthday and my friend was there the day before and she reminded them.... but they still forgot. Wasnt a nice feeling to see other people get cakes while I was just sitting there. It’s the small things that turn you off when you go for dining at this level, and this service blip was probably the one thing I took away from my visit....
Thanks to atera staff
Truly amazing and inventive. A great dining experience ....service, food, intimate. Been to many restaurants with tasting menus but thus was truly different and wonderful. The blending of different flavors were simply amazing. Will definitely return again.
Spectacular. Service was amazing.
There were four of us for dinner. Each of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The food was delicious, innovative but not contrived. Flavors and textures complemented each other and not too complicated. Food presentation was extraordinary, Dinner was truly a meal to remember and remember we will. Truly the best meal we have had in this country!!!
Amazing creative cooking! Fantastic service!
Looking forward to come back
My boyfriend, His mother and I went here for his birthday and we loved it ! The service was absolutely flawless, the food was so delicious, and we loved the view of the open kitchen. Very limited seating but we really liked that fact. Everything was cooked perfectly. The only very small things we did not like was the portion was pretty small even for a 2 Michelin star restaurant, and the vanilla smoke on one of the deserts was very over powering (too smoky) but compared to everything else they still deserve 5 stars all around. I would love to visit them again and my boyfriend was very impressed !
Atera may be my favorite restaurant in NYC for a variety of reasons. At the core of any great restaurant is the food, and Atera does not disappoint in that department. The dishes are incredibly composed and the flavors are well balanced. The modernist techniques they use enhance the experience without shouting "look at me." This, in itself, is a reason any true foodie should visit Atera. There is a certain level of restraint that, when paired with the ingredients, create dishes that will ultimately bring a smile to your face - and isn't that what it's really about?
I could go on about each dish, but they are better experienced than read about.
When speaking of the space, itself, there is a sense of calm and relaxation that enhances the experience. Don't get me wrong, this is haute cuisine - but it is presented in a way that keeps the diner relaxed and able to just enjoy the night out and the people they are with. The staff is professional, yet there is a completely unpretentious vibe. Everyone is personable, including the chefs - who will present the dishes to each diner with a full description and will gladly answer any questions about techniques or preparation.
Lastly (although there is so much more to be said), even the choice of music helps to enhance the experience. The music selections are a collaboration between the chefs and service staff. It's definitely not what one would conjure up in their minds about what music in a fine dining space would be - and that only adds to the experience.
Any true food lover should find any excuse they can to dine at Atera. I was there in October and have just made reservations again for December. In a city with so many choices, that alone speaks volumes.
Great food overall and very nice hand soap
Atera was recommended by a friend of my husbands so i did not know what to expect. Unfortunately i was in town for business so could not do the wine pairing but the very attentive and gentle service of Yumi one of the sommeliers guided us through some excellent options of whites and reds by the glass for our dinner. I can say that after having been to quite some starred restaurants this one was exquisite in every detail plate after plate detail after detail. Presentation, service and taste were all a solid 100. Congratulations!
every plate were outstanding, very attentive service, perfect wine pairing
Atera is the Best! We were the first guests arrived and two waiters were outside on the street to greet us and led us to our seats. Every dishes here is perfect, especially the waffle with truffle and tuna, absolutely perfect. Also, the lobster and maitaki were wonderful, desserts were impressive. Counter seating is great, we can see what’s going on in the kitchen
I would strongly recommend the premium wine pairing. It's a little bit expensive but worth it.
