Although the steaks were very good they did not meet our expectations. We ordered the medium rare and they came out medium well. The spice rub and the peppercorn sauce were underwhelming. Service was spot on and it’s a lovely place to enjoy a quiet evening
Absolutely loved this restaurant
Our server was excellent and the food was good. The noise level was quite high
We came to celebrate our anniversary and it was fabulous. Our waiter Alex was exceptional.... attentive and first class. The dinner was 5 star (bone in ribeye) and we couldn’t be happier. We highly recommend!!
Took my Wife there for birthday dinner-- everything was amazing-- Jaun was our waiter and he was awesome ! Will be back for sure-- Great Experience !!!
The location of the Argyle Steakhouse is beautify, the service is great and the food is at the higher end of the quality scale. However, you pay top dollar for the aforementioned.
Waiter Alex was just awesome. He made our experience something to be remembered. Food was amazing and I’ll definitely be back.
My first visit, years ago, was memorable. When my friend asked me to take her here for her 70+ birthday, of course, I agreed, not remembering that Argyle was the same place we went to together years ago. The moment we entered, I remembered!
The steak I had was superb, as was the salad. (My friend and I split both dishes.) Our server was wonderful, very professional, and as she got to know my taste in wine, even offered us a third taste, which was right on the nose, so to speak.
We sat outside overlooking the golf course and lagoon. Simply beautiful. It was a cool, breezy day, so someone brought over the heater, which made it perfect.
We'll definitely be back, and soon! It's a real treat, and I'm someone who dines out a lot, at our better restaurants.
My sister and I came back a second time, even though our fist experience was less than terrific. SO glad we did! Our EXCELLENT server, Chris, made sure everything was perfect. It was.
I might add that my family returned AGAIN, this time for dinner, a few nights later. It was SUPERB! Our server, Jesse, was as terrific as the food...which couldn't have been better! We have some food allergies in our group, and everyone was accommodated with a smile. Loved every bite!
Food was good however service was not!
We felt like nobody was working this section except to finally take an order then food finally showed up and we had to ask another server for refill of ice tea since we could not find our server then ask another server for our check. Very disappointing service. Not the usual we have experienced in the past.
I've eaten at the Argyle Steakhouse for lunch MANY times. The view of the lagoon is OUTSTANDING, and the tables outside give me ample time to enjoy the view. BUT...yesterday, the service was the worst I've ever experienced. Our server never brought napkins (I finally took them from another table), never came back to check to see if our food was to our liking (it was, but just barely), and was never really tuned in to our needs.
Great location and great experience- Restaurant Week.
We celebrated a birthday and restaurant week. We requested a quiet area for hearing impaired and got a fabulous table. Our server,Matt, was outstanding. He described the menu very well, was incredibly attentive and efficient. The food was excellent and very affordable since it was restaurant week.
The friends with us had never been to Argyle but thoroughly enjoyed it.
First time there. I had a salad and a wonderful sandwich of crab and white cedar I would recommend again.
It was a very nice lunch. The service from the hostess who seated us to the server, was perfect. The food was above average but I found the crab melt toast too crunchy to enjoy. The day was beautiful as was the scenery and it was nice being seated by the window. There were a coupe noisy groups but they soon left and it was a quiet and unrushed meal which I enjoyed quite a lot. Fair price for a Restaurant Week meal. It wasn't my first time at the Argyle but I hadn't been there for many years. I had forgotten what a great place it is to "hang out".
We have been customers of The Argyle for over 15 years. Normally I rave about it. After looking over restaurant week menus, we chose The Argyle to have dinner at last night. We were very disappointed. The menu was different than what was posted on OpenTable last week when we made the reservations, both for the entrees and the deserts. The manager came over and apologized which was nice but then gave us some BS about we must have been looking at last year's menu. Really? Just own up to it! The food was mediocre. The vegetables (potatoes and squash, I believe) looked and tasted the same as if they were cooked together, which was not much taste at all. The hangar steak that they substituted for the original filet mignon was not up to par and no where near as good as the filet that we had been looking forward to. I will not be back in the foreseeable future. The service was great!
The location and view is worth the visit but food and service are mediocre. They brought our main course while we were still eating our appetizers, unacceptable.
We are long time customers, but may not be back. Normally, one of our favorites... but service, food were under par tonight. After an unannounced change in the SDRW menu we ordered off the main menu. But the atmosphere just seemed to be a bit off and never got better. Almost looked forward to settling up and leaving.
One of the best steaks in San Diego County
Steaks and sides were cold. S’mores dessert was also cold. Popovers were the only hot items we had. Service and food definitely not what it it used to be. Service wasn’t great either, waters not refilled till the end.
Very good overall
Meal was excellent and service was OUTSTANDING!
We were staying at the Park Hyatt Aviara, so my girlfriend and I decided to have dinner on property at The Argyle Steakhouse. Earlier in the day the shuttle driver spoke highly of The Argyle and mentioned that he would be able to take us down the hill (where it's located) and bring us back. I booked my own reservation but the concierge coordinated everything else. It was a great added benefit and that was before the actual dinner.
We did not order starters or drinks but we did have bread, and it was delicious. On the reservation I wanted them to surprise my girlfriend with a birthday treat so I did not want us to front load the meal. Juan, our server was great and he made our experience excellent with his service and suggestions.
My girlfriend ordered the Filet Mignon with blue cheese crust. She enjoyed her steak but she wanted medium well in favor of well done. I ordered the Jidori Chicken with the lemon butter sauce (suggested by Juan). We both liked our mains being able to select your own steak knife from a choice of 4 or 5 styles added to the experience. Our sides were delicious. We ordered Brussel Sprouts with duck bacon (who knew there was duck bacon?) and Yukon Gold Whipped potatoes. The sides were flavorful and complemented or mains extremely well. We did not need the birthday cake for her (because our meal was so filling) but we were glad to have it. The ambience, service, and presentation made this a great night for our last dinner in Carlsbad. Each member of the staff from the concierge, to the driver, to the hostess, and the server made it a great experience and set the bar high. It was an incredible meal and I would love to see the view during the day.
Even though a bit pricy, but you get what you pay for. We go there for special occasions and have never been disappointed.
Not the best service for how much we pay. We were disappointed in the steak. It was an ok experience
Christmas brunch was a rip-off. $95 and not even a complementary mimosa or bloody Mary. The buffet brunch was terrible. The roast beef was cold, raw and fatty. The other dishes were mush and tasteless. The deserts we're the only redeeming feature of an otherwise extremely disappointing meal.
Somewhat limited lunch menu, no appetizers on the menu.
French Onion soup was average at best and lukewarm. After meal espresso was lukewarm as well.
For the price, was not impressed with the service or the food.
It is a great venue with beautiful views of the golf course and Lagoon.
Came here for the burger at lunch and it was very good. Definitely my favorite burger in the "Fancy" category ;) Server was awesome and I will be back for dinner. Dinner vibe is a little more fine dining while lunch is more casual too.
Argyle was as outstanding as always. We stay at Hyatt Aviara every year & We go to Argyle during every stay. It has always been outstanding. The people are always wonderful and they remember us
Our dinner was delicious and enjoyable, selections presented as described on the menu. Our server, Matt, was especially pleasant and professional. The only negative had nothing to do with Argyle but with the man i a two-top near our table, whose voice was incredibly loud and who was using one of those high-powered tactical type flashlights to review his menu, completely unaware and insensitive to the fact that it was shining directly across into our eyes. I can understand his needing more light, but what he also needed was some consideration of those affected by his behavior.
Otherwise a lovely evening at Argyle.
This is a great steak house. The steaks are really tasty and prepared very well. The staff were very gracious. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Good but not excellent food. Excellent service. Good atmosphere. Carpet and tables and chairs are dirty and old need replacement.
Should extend buffet concept and open to non-holidays weekends as well.
My parents 60th anniversary and the Argyle did not disappoint! My patents both said it was the best service they ca remember. The food was fantastic. Yes, it is a la carte and smaller portions but to us it was the perfect special occasion dinner. Thank you Argyle!
Food was hot upon serving and service was perfect
Outstanding service and food! Thank you.
I have never been to the Argile steak house before! It was a special night, I proposed to my Fiance earlier in the day. I chose the Argyle steak house because it was close by to the Aviara Hotel. Transportation picked us up and drop off to the Argyle restaurant and was spot on! The ambiance of the restaurant was great! We get there and we ordered. I must say that our waiter was was great, very attentive. We did sit with empty water glasses longer then I wanted too. He brought us, free none alcoholic drinks since we don't drink and told him we just got engaged. The drinks were very good! We ordered a steak and a lobster dish. I was very disappointed with the lobster. It was half of a tiny lobster tail the smallest tail, cut in half longways, served on a tiny skillet. I didn't know they came this small. Garnished with way to many vegetables on top to hide the size of the lobster. I mentioned to the waiter, I literally had two small bites of lobster, not enough for both of us to share and tasteless. I did speak up to the waiter and he brought us an additional lobster. The overall experience was good.
One of my favorite restaurants for lunch. Love sitting on the patio. The view is wonderful.
An undiscovered gem located at the Aviara Golf Club. Excellent steakhouse with excellent service. We frequent on every trip to the San Diego area and its always excellent.
Top quality steaks worth every penny of the price.
It was a lovely Sunday evening experience. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating and KUDOS to John (our waiter) for his attention to detail. The food was everything we'd hoped for and more — creatively prepared and presented. The wine matched the fare to a tee. We look forward to a return visit.
Portions small for price
