Buscábamos un sunday brunch y el buffet era pobrísimo , nos debimos conformar con menú de lunch muy sencillo aunque bastante bueno en sabor y calidad .
Wonderful Thanksgiving experience. They were also incredibly nice at accommodating my last minute to postpone (I locked myself out of my house).
$175+tax+20% + drinks per person for Thanksgiving dinner. Shame on the Grand. The food was warm at best, 2 Tbls of mashed potatoes, 1Tbls of cranberries, dry turkey and flavorless stuffing. And then to charge for iced tea? Insult to injury. Close to $500 for 2 people. Shame on the chef for phoning it in and the manager for charging double the industry standard for subpar food and tarnishing the Grand.
I made a reservation for an outdoor table ans despite having many empty tables, they said they were unable to seat us outdoors. We have 2 unvaccinated children and that’s why we made outdoor reservations. Found it disappointing. It also took over an hour to get our food.
The glory that was the wine list at Amaya is no more. I was downhearted to arrive and see that what once had been a fine collection for wine lovers of all backgrounds was a shell of its former self. Absolutely affected the quality of our experience. The staff is great. Food, with a few bites here and there, was terrific, and the atmosphere is wonderful as always. But the wine list. A brand like Fairmont should not be providing diners with mediocrity. And then charging typical hotel gouge prices for offerings that are, by and large, pedestrian. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
Very tasty food, good ambiance and excellent service. Amaya’s old fashioned drink was one of the best ones I have ever head. Kudos to the bartender.
Excellent dinner, excellent service. Made for a real nice night!
They did not offer lunch but made the reservation for lunch. Very disappointing.
We had a scrumptious brunch at Amaya to celebrate my birthday. Loved the service, ambiance on the patio and the food. The Grand mimosa was also one of the best mimosas that I’ve ever had. Will definitely return for future celebrations.
Place feels stuffy and old. Menu is small and lacks freshness. Not Italian at all. More like the old heavy American-French style. Hostess was missing at checkin and disorganized upon seating. Good cocktails, below average main courses but priced towards the high end. Fish was undercooked (raw on the inside) and the sauce was not good. Probably not going back.
Beautiful restaurant, and very good food. Knowledgeable waiter. Would recommend for a special occasion. I will return when I come back to San Diego
Terrible service. After 90 minutes our entrées still had not yet been delivered so we paid the bill for our drinks and left - terribly disappointing - We eat there fairly regularly as well as holding family events there – and this was by far the most disappointing experience we have had - I understand that the restaurant likely has labor issues but that does not excuse poor service.
Service was exceptional but food was average. Very limited menu.
Food excellent just took almost 45 minutes before getting our food.
Completely understand the staffing issues as of late but last night was very below par, took over 30mins to order our drinks followed by another 30mins to order any appetizers to which I had to ask to order, then again had to ask if we could order our main course because it had been 45mins and our server hadn’t been back to the table once which then took another hour for the main to come. Also we had requested a specific type of champagne, which we didn’t get, when I questioned the bottle they were serving it was something completely different to what we asked for. I’m sorry but the evening overall was very frustrating!
This is a beautiful restaurant in a gorgeous resort. We have eaten here several times and always had a great experience. The food was delicious. However, on Friday, the service was abysmal. They had overbooked the restaurant and did not have any contingency plans to handle the diners. Or to check in periodically when we waited more than an hour for our meal. At a luxury resort, we expect that they can pay necessary wages to attract, train and retain the necessary staff. Very disappointing.
The service, staff and food was amazing! Very thoughtful staff for special occasion.
We had a great night at Amaya, the service is outstanding, great atmosphere and food. A gem in San Diego. Definitely a place to come back again.
It was my first experience at Amaya and it was exceptional. The service, the food, the ambience... all of it!
worth a visit;the stasff goes above and beyond to insure a memorable evening.
a big shoutout to our waiter, Cory
The location is beautiful, but the decor is tired and the food was just okay for the price. The bread was baguette that was not fresh, and the dessert options were not very interesting - three options, two of which were cheesecake and creme brulee. I was expecting more since it’s in the same hotel as Addison.
Made our anniversary dinner very special, and gave us complimentary champagne and dessert.
Service was excellent. The sea bass was not very good. No one in the party like it. All other food was good. The filet and desserts were excellent.
Celebrated 2 Bdays this morning for breakfast. Great location and fantastic service. Vladimir offered superior attention and service. Highly recommend
We had a wonderful table on the patio. The food was good and servers were very nice. There was a mix up in the kitchen so it was slow to get our food. We weren’t in a hurry so it worked out fine in the end.
What a beautiful property but unfortunately was heavily understaffed. Food was quite good, wine was great, but the service lag was tough at this price point. Will return to hopefully a more fully staffed venue.
There were flies everywhere. We had breakfast outside by the terrace and could keep up with all the flies all over our table. It ruined our time there. It was really uncomfortable and couldn’t wait to finish our meals and leave.
Such a great experience. The staff was great from the very beginning. We appreciate all they did for our large group.
Everything was great, food, drinks and service! 🙏. Beautiful place ❤️
It was lovely to return to the Fairmont Grand Del Mar last evening. My friend and I enjoyed an exceptional forest mushroom soup, braised short ribs, yum! Everything was delicious. The service is friendly, timely, and we enjoyed a no rush experience. Of special note are Carlos and Carolyn, who provided warm conversation, recommendations and excellent service.
Food and service were top notch.
Carlos our waiter and the entire staff simply nailed it. They kept apologizing for our wait times and it was just not even noticed by us. We had a wonderful time in every way.
The music, the service and the food were memorable and made our special evening something to cherish.
Such an exquisite place to dine. I loved the patio outdoor seating and beautiful music while having brunch...😋
We went here for our anniversary dinner and it was our first time. The place did not disappoint. The ambiance felt like we were in another state or Europe. The staff were all great and paying attention to everything. The live music was very entertaining and relaxing. The food was also great and the price is just like of a regular steak restaurant but the service and ambiance made a bid difference. Will definitely come back to this place!
Outstanding service. Not impressed with the brunch menu could be better. Would recommend for lunch or dinner. Really enjoyed the live music.
Service was slow, which I think is more standard for pandemic service. The low rating is due to the food being pretty disappointing. 7 pm reservations for an outside table but not seated until 7:30 due to no outside availability
Service was very good. Wait staff was kind and attentive. The food was uninventive. The filet mignon and the burger were good but way overpriced for presentation and quality. The hanger steak tartar was completely flavorless. I poured Worcester sauce which I ordered as an attempt to add some flavor. The dill overwhelmed the flavorless meat. The Chilean sea bass felt as though it had been under a heat lamp for awhile. Somehow pre-cooked and then finished to order, which at the price is unacceptable. The chips as garnish were very good. The special green sauce with the oyster was fabulous! One of the people in our party left their jacket and one of the staff ran it up to the valet. Fabulous! Valet parkers were kind and attentive.
Our group of 4 had Sunday brunch, cocktail hour and dinner at Amaya to celebrate a friend’s birthday on 9/12/2021. We only dined at Amaya and did not stay at Fairmont Resort.
- Employees and guests are not required to wear masks. So for those very cautious about COVID may feel uncomfortable because practically no one was wearing a mask. However the Fairmont property including Amaya restaurant are well maintained and clean.
- Outdoor and indoor dining areas were available at Amaya. Outdoor dining area was more crowded than indoors. Both options however I think provide pleasant ambience. Dining tables were well spread out and there was ample space between tables.
- Brunch menu is not too exciting but quality ingredients are used. Dinner is more memorable especially the Chilean sea bass and soup of the day which was asparagus and celery cream soup.
- Our group enjoyed cocktails at bar area before dinner which was fun and convenient.
- Host, servers, everyone representing Amaya were friendly and welcoming.
- Meals and beverages are super expensive and overpriced but I think worth it for a once a year special day like a good friend’s birthday.
