Alux Restaurante calificaciones y reseñas
This is a unique Venue as the bar and restaurant are actually located below ground. It's beautiful and enchanting to walk down the stairs and see how they have it layed out. The wait staff was a bit slow on drinks but overall was very polite and attentive to our requests. I would highly recommend this for a romantic evening as it's relatively quiet and dark. The menu seems to cover most of the food groups so even a picky eater will find something they should like. This is a definite must try for anyone staying at Playa Del Carmen and wanting a unique dining experience.
I wish I could give this place a negative 5 stars. The waiter came and took our order and never showed up again to check on us. We had to hunt our check down for what was possibly the most disgusting food I have ever eaten. We ordered the surf and turf and it wasn't edible had to excuse myself a few bites into the meal to purge in the restroom. It was honestly just horrible on ALL levels and would definitely avoid this place at all costs. Please save your money and don't let the cool ambiance in the photos throw you off.
As soon as you get in, the hostess offers you a choice of seating, promoting the places that cost additional $30. We picked one of those because we expected a special meal, however it disappointed us significantly. The waiter was not responsive and did not show up for 15 minutes. We ended up ordering a couple of appetizers and after realizing how horrible the food was we decided to leave. When we asked for a check the waiter made a manager come over to get us to stay, which felt awkward. Overall, it is a tourist trap with mediocre service and below average reheated food. Go there to take pictures, but I would not recommend eating there.
Beware of overcharging! They charged us 1600 pesos (USD 80) for a single crab entree. Said it was "market price."
Also, the ambiance is destroyed by a DJ who blares music with a heavy bass. Even asking them to turn it down three times so we could hear each other without screaming, the music was juimpin'.
The space is amazing. But right now they're coasting by as a tourist trap (and by charging ridiculous prices.
Overall, of stay away from this tourist tara until they change mentality (or ownership).
It was my birthday, my boyfriend put it in the notes when we booked..they did nothing for it. The food was poor quality for the place that it is, you would think it would be much better. Only would Recommend for drinks & it's scenic view.
Just not comfortable with my experience. I ordered the 3 pepper steak but there were just two with the steak over tenderized so I worried about a stomuch ache. Also the Kind Crab wrap obviously was prepared and sat for a while as it was served room temperature with the rice paper a bit soggy. No taste of citrus for the dressing as promised. I ate it as i was hungry but
not very enjoyable for the price. Every thing quit expense and they even added the tip of 15% to the tab for 2 persons. but never mentioned it.
Wine for a glass seemed high also.
Small Pina Colada cost 150 pesos..$7.50 as are most of the cocktails.
I could not hear my mother voice and she sat across from me.
Sitting in the interior of a cave was terrific however and a first for many years.
Sorry the food did not add up to the price.
Easy to find.
Those in wheel chair are carried down the many stairs.
Found this restaurant on trip advisor and it was mid rated. We were a group of 8 people, 6 adults and 2 kids. They had wonderful food and a couple of choices for the kids. Since we aren't native to Mexico i thought it would be hard to find stuff for kids but it was amazing. I would highly recommend it to others.
So glad I went to this place! I love caves and knew I would want to have a reservation upon opening so I could roam the empty caverns and take photos. A good plan! The food was fresh, tasty. The waiter shined a light on each course and explained to me the ingredients. By the time I left (6.70-7.00 pm) it was getting full, a bit louder, but I still took time to take a few more photos on the way out. The cavern system is huge - takes about 10-15 mins to walk around. Have to do this - at least once.
We have been to many countries and a plethora of restaurants throughout the world, this was not only extra-ordinary in that it was enchanting and so authentic, but surprisingly the food was absolutely a surprise. It was excellent. The presentation, the preparation, the quality, the texture, even the service.was superior. If there was any honest criticism it was that the lobster bisque wasn't as hot as it should ha e been but it was certainly so well prepared that it wasn't worth a complaint. Even my escargot was derived from an onion base vs the forever overused garlic and Alux made quite a statement with it. The dessert was an array of the most fresh fruits displayed over a rich chocolate mousse that had a perfect consistency not watery and not too chocolatey. Even the drinks were tasteful and bountiful.
My many thanks to the staff, originators, and of course, the chef
We went on our vacation and it turned out to be the perfect place to propose (she said yes)! She had the steak which was great and I had the pork, which was very good. Attentive but not in your face service - perfect for the setting. We got to walk around afterwards and tour the cave, so very nice! Expensive by Mexican pricing but would only be mid to moderate by USA standards.
Totally blown away by the brilliant chef that created all the fabulous dishes we were able to taste! To eat underground in a cave was a brand new experience and the unique ambience of the cave is a must-see! The appetizers are quite generously portioned and we ordeerd one each, but you could easily share one dish. The fried cheese, octopus and grilled potobello were all tasty, my husband says it is the best octopus he has ever had. We had that and then ordered the surf and turf for two, but it could easily feed 3 smaller appetites as we eat heavy lol We ended up having 2 bottled waters, 2 cocktails, 2 appetizers, the platter for 2, and a coffee and our b ill was ONLY $135. We felt like we were getting such a deal we left $160 for them. The only thing that was a bit of a challenge was our waiter. He didnt speak English well, so there was a bit of miscommunication with our orders. He was very apolagetic and we felt badly too as we are not fluent in Spanish....I think the service would have been 5 star if not for that. The Mayan coffee show is a must see. Also...the tour of the cave after dinner is fun too:) I will go back every time I am fortunate enough to travel to Playa :)
