Amazing food, service, such a cool spot and would RE omens it to anyone.

Alux was beautiful inside! The food was really good and the service was great. Definitely a must-do while in Playa del Carmen. Pay the extra cost to have a private vault - very unique experience!

The restaurant is a cool place. I went because I read that it was a Hidden Gem. While it is hidden (inside a cave) it was an average restaurant. It was extremely hot inside. The wine selection was mediocre and the service was simply average.

Amazing, cool cave! Something different for a special occasion. $50 extra for a private seating area a little steep. Neighborhood not the greatest but taxis always available for transport. Definitely worth the experience.

Everything was absolutely wonderful and amazing except that it was also extremely humid and very hot. They try to get the air moving around with fans but I was caught in a dead spot. Only thing to improve on would be the air flow. I realize that this is difficult to do in a cave.

This was the most amazing place I’ve ever ate at before! Dinner inside a cave!? Seriously?! How amazing for any Adventure or geologist, or just the coolest place ever. But the food was a lil too fancy for its own good.

What a great experience. The location was one of a kind and we were lucky enough to go early (7pm) and were seated at the waterfall area — wow! If you drink wine they escort you to the wine cellar to select the bottle and the service is top notch. Our waiter was Andres and he really took great care of us for the entire time and helped us pick a great Pinot that went with my steak and my husband’s salmon. The reviews about poor food quality must have been unlucky flukes because ours was amazing and perfectly cooked. It wasn’t crowded so that might have helped. Definitely take the time to explore the whole cavern on your way out - HUGE and so many unique private dining areas. Definitely a must do experience in Riviera Maya.

We celebrated my birthday at this restaurant on October 31st and they sat us at a table next to the waterfall. It was a great scenery. Our waiter Francisco was excellent from beginning to end. He was very knowledgeable and friendly and provided us with great service. It was just my husband and myself and we had an AWESOME experience eating dinner under a real cave. They did an outstanding job on the decor and the ambiance. The food was a little expensive but all worth it. We were treated with lots of respect and all the waiters around us kept cleaning up our table. We definitely recommend this restaurant.

I cannot rave enough about this restaurant and the incredible service. Andres was our waiter and he was extremely attentive. I had gotten up to take a picture and my napkin fell from my lap. I picked it up and placed it on my chair and proceeded to go take pictures. When I returned to the table, another waiter exchanged my napkin for a fresh one. We were invited to tour the wine cellar which was very nice. When we went back to our table our napkins had again been replaced. The ambiance was incredibly romantic and the decor was elegant. The food presentation was pleasing as well. After we ate, we were invited to tour the rest of the cave which was breathtaking.

Excellent food. The waiter was amazing. The cave makes for great ambience and is fun to explore. Would definitely go there again.

Obviously the environment was outstanding! We came as a suggestion from a local and we were impressed. We could’ve done without the “rope”, making it feel very privileged or snooty. Was also unaware of what seemed to be a dress code. Otherwise- Unique & incredible! We wandered about the place and it was just simply breathtaking. The location is a bit odd and unexpected but certainly a hidden gem. Service was great, very attentive and thorough. The food was divine! Delicious but small portions. Prices are a bit high IMO but overall we enjoyed it. 9/10 will recommend to others!

Alux is a gorgeous and intriguing space. It would be a terrific place to come for a cocktail. But for dinner, we were sadly disappointed. We had an appetizer and two entrees, and while the food comes out beautifully displayed, the eating leaves something lacking. The appetizer was an octopus dish, which was competently prepared in that the octopus was tender, but it appeared unseasoned and thus nearly tasteless. The small accompanying salad didn’t seem to enhance the octopus or the dish overall.

We next had the wild pig leg and the duck entrees. The duck was tasty and flavorful, and was really the only item we ordered that we enjoyed. The wild pig leg was suggested to be served medium (which we agreed to) but came out utterly dry and tasteless. Despite its beautiful presentation, it was literally the worst pork dish I’ve had in a restaurant.

The service was competent and solemn, with not much more to be said.

Again, the space itself is unique and well worth a visit. But I’d do so by grabbing a quick cocktail and spend my dinner dollars elsewhere.

Dinner in a cave underground with perfect food? Its that cool. They had these 2 musicians, one guitar one sings, jazzy version of Green Day, the food portions are huge so don't over order like we did.

Top Ambiente. In einer Höhle neben einer Cenote. Essen top. Service super.

Definitely a unique experience. The place was beautifully decorated and loved the music being played by the Dj. The food was above average and prices were also above average, but worth the ambiance. They have a very cool wine cellar, that they let you see, to select your bottle. We had excellent sevice.

I had a birthday dinner in Alux and it was amazing! My friend and I shared a bottle of rose as well as the grilled octopus and the grilled land and sea platter and WOW. The food was excellent, one of the best steaks I've ever had! The ambiance was also really great--from the cave setting, to the cenotes, to the colorful lights near the bar/stage. It was fantastic and I'd recommend!

Fantastic experience. A must-do when in Playa Del Carmen

This restaurant is def one of a kind from the breathtaking Cenote setting, to the excellent 5 star service and delicious food. I highly recommend this restaurant and have already told my friends to check it out if ever in Playa Del Carmen. You won’t be disappointed!

The place is very beautiful but the food is very disappointing.

El lugar es único e increíble, vale la pena solo por conocerlo. La comida es realmente muy buena, no esperaba encontrar algo así en playa del carmen. El servicio bastante bien, no excepcional pero sin ninguna queja. El día que fui había música en vivo que creo que fue lo único que no me encantó pero eso es cuestión de gustos personales. Definitivamente pienso regresar y absolutamente lo recomiendo a todo el mundo. Los precios podrían parecer un poco altos pero el lugar en donde comes, el ambiente, el servicio y la calidad de los alimentos definitivamente valen lo que cuestan.

We were staying in Tulum and experiencing the different Cenotes of the area. This restaurant gave us an eating experience that was in line with our swimming in the cenotes. Playa del Carmen is a little under an hour from Tulum and a nice straight drive. I would highly recommend the experience as it is very different than anything I and my friends have experienced before. The timing of the food and in between the courses was perfect for us. Additionally, the timing between dinner and dessert gave us the opportunity to walk the restaurant/cave and take pictures and read some facts posted. The only thing, and this is not a negative but to prepare for, is the temperature. They regulate the temperature of the cave in the dining areas with fans and air conditioning but that doesn't mean all the humidity is removed and understanding this will help prepare how to dress for this experience. Please also note we had this dinner in August not one of the cooler months. The food is absolutely delicious and the portions are sized correctly. A nice feature is that the waiters know the cuisine well and explain to you each aspect of your dish when it arrives. I must commend the staff as they were attentive and genuinely amiable. I would love to go to this restaurant again when I am back in Mexico.
