Alux Restaurante calificaciones y reseñas
We went seeing how great the review were and based on the amazing pictures. Let's be clear the place is unique ! You can't eat in a genuine cave with bats flying over you head everyday. The place is huge and beautifull ! Now this is the most frustrating part how can they have created such a nice looking restaurant and serve such an horrible, HORRIBLEEE !!! Food. There is no name for what we hate. The food is greasy and there is a funny taste (but not in a funny sense). For 2 people with a bottle of wine we ended up paying 230 USD !!! We were not asked for the tip it was included by default (~40 usd). The place is a scam. After discussing with people at our hotel we realized that the staff knew that the restaurant was very bad. So again let's be clear the place is amazing... go in take picture (there is a walk within the restaurant along the cave) have a drink maybe (my wife cocktail was not good) and go have diner somewhere else !
A must while in Playa del Carmen. Leave your flip flops, bathing suits and cut-offs in your room. Ladies, put on a cute outfit; guys, at least put on your best shorts and shirt (preferably not a faded tee). This is a spectacularly beautiful restaurant. Complaints have been made on other reviews about the cost, the service, the food, and the humidity and heat. Know for sure the setting is an amazing, very large cave. We sat in the main dining room, with fans blowing and a room air conditioner. On our walkabout after dinner, we noticed that seating is warmer and more humid the further you go back in the cave, but it is more romantic and private too. Our food was delicious - guys had the rib-eye, gals had the Mayan Sacrifice Chicken. A little communication snafu brought the 12 year old dark pasta with crab when we wanted plain ordinary spaghetti, no sauce. A correction was made although there was a bit of a wait. Service was more than adequate, not spectacular but definitely good enough. This was a full dining experience not to be missed. I would definitely recommend it, and for sure I would go again. More upscale and expensive, perhaps, than other Mexican restaurants but it is worth it, and to this American the cost was reasonable.
Restaurante pretencioso. No volvería.
We had dinner here the last night of our vacation. We had reservations, were seated immediately and were offered drinks promptly. It is a beautiful space with lots to look at and enjoy. The food is ok. The least favorite of our dining choices throughout the week. However, it is more of an experience than a restaurant. I would probably not return, but would not hesitate to recommend to others that want an interesting dining experience.
Alux restaurant is one of the most unique, beautiful restaurants I have ever been to, and I have been to many nice restaurants in the world. It is in a real cave! The food was also very good and the service was exemplary. It is a must-see if you are in Playa del Carmen and want a once-in-a-lifetime type of experience.
This has to be the most incredible dining experience I have ever had. Christina our waitress was amazing and we were able to explore the cave before people arrived. The food was great, the ambiance was amazing and I would recommend it to everyone I know! Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
This is a unique Venue as the bar and restaurant are actually located below ground. It's beautiful and enchanting to walk down the stairs and see how they have it layed out. The wait staff was a bit slow on drinks but overall was very polite and attentive to our requests. I would highly recommend this for a romantic evening as it's relatively quiet and dark. The menu seems to cover most of the food groups so even a picky eater will find something they should like. This is a definite must try for anyone staying at Playa Del Carmen and wanting a unique dining experience.
I wish I could give this place a negative 5 stars. The waiter came and took our order and never showed up again to check on us. We had to hunt our check down for what was possibly the most disgusting food I have ever eaten. We ordered the surf and turf and it wasn't edible had to excuse myself a few bites into the meal to purge in the restroom. It was honestly just horrible on ALL levels and would definitely avoid this place at all costs. Please save your money and don't let the cool ambiance in the photos throw you off.
As soon as you get in, the hostess offers you a choice of seating, promoting the places that cost additional $30. We picked one of those because we expected a special meal, however it disappointed us significantly. The waiter was not responsive and did not show up for 15 minutes. We ended up ordering a couple of appetizers and after realizing how horrible the food was we decided to leave. When we asked for a check the waiter made a manager come over to get us to stay, which felt awkward. Overall, it is a tourist trap with mediocre service and below average reheated food. Go there to take pictures, but I would not recommend eating there.
Beware of overcharging! They charged us 1600 pesos (USD 80) for a single crab entree. Said it was "market price."
Also, the ambiance is destroyed by a DJ who blares music with a heavy bass. Even asking them to turn it down three times so we could hear each other without screaming, the music was juimpin'.
The space is amazing. But right now they're coasting by as a tourist trap (and by charging ridiculous prices.
Overall, of stay away from this tourist tara until they change mentality (or ownership).
It was my birthday, my boyfriend put it in the notes when we booked..they did nothing for it. The food was poor quality for the place that it is, you would think it would be much better. Only would Recommend for drinks & it's scenic view.
