Alta Strada Garlic Bread
with Tomato-Basil Dipping Sauce
Tomato, Mozzarella, Broccoli "Aglio e Olio"
Lady Fingers in Espresso & Mascarpone
Do not recommend. Food was particularly greasy and not well seasoned. Bianca pizza we ordered didn’t have any rosemary, just cheese.
We were comped a dessert, which was greatly appreciated, but were not consulted and were presented a dish to which we were allergic. Not so great an experience.
Service was great!
The food was not great. I could name better Italian restaurants in DC, but this worked for the occasion. The food wasn't horrible; there is just better in the area.
Loved the environment and service. Will definitely come back.
Alta Strada's outdoor dining set up is really well done. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our experience during Winter Restaurant week very much. We split a bottle of the house red, which was delicious. The cauliflower in brown butter and breadcrumbs appetizer was outstanding and worth going back for. Our main courses were large portions, not a given during restaurant week so much appreciated by us, and both the penne alla vodka and baked ziti were very delicious. The tiramisu I had for dessert was absolutely divine, and so big I brought half home! My boyfriend enjoyed his chocolate cake with caramel sauce, and despite calling it "very rich" he finished the entire portion. We were plenty warm with the heaters going, I took off my winter coat and sat there in just my sweater, jeans, and sneakers. The servers were attentive, the three courses didn't come out too quickly, and we had a lovely time.
This was the second time we've been here- it can get a bit pricey but it's well worth it! The food is always delicious, the staff is kind and great at anticipating the guests' needs. I'll definitely have to start ordering takeout from here as well (especially the pizzas! Life changing!). Thank you!
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. It was our first, but it certainly won't be our last. Thank you to the host who accommodated us after being late for our reservation. The waiter/servers were all courteous and anticipated our needs well. The contactless menu was definitely a plus. Service was timely and no lapses in being served. Ambiance was very nice. Noise level was moderate but respectful. The chocolate cake was my favorite food from the whole meal!! I can't wait to try it again!
Complimentary Bread would be nice. Would like to return and try it again
Great customer service and excellent food!!!!!
Staff was careful with food preparation due to my food allergy. Very attentive on how they prepared my food and let me know what I could/could not have. My meal was delicious and safe for me. Everyone was friendly and practicing safety protocols. Already recommended to family and friends!
Delicious food, good prices, great service, nice outdoor seating area with heat lamps. Definitely recommend!
food was delicious, we had a pizza, crab pasta and ziti all well prepared, for dessert we had the cannoli, it was super good.
The hostess very attentive, my husband drop some pasta sauce on his shirt and she gave him something to clean it.
Chicken pam was lack of flavor other than the taste of sauce. Cannoli was very plain, I wonder if the chef even tasted the cannoli, it was oily, dry and not even sweet. I think it was the worst dessert I have ever gotten in a restaurant.
The service was very good, I will give it a five star for the service.
Fantastic! What lovely wait staff and the food was unbelievable. My hubby and I shared the meatballs and also Brussel sprout apps (paired with Prosecco and a vodka martini). The sprouts are perfectly crispy and the meatballs are airy yet substantial. Oh, and that red sauce with burrata - we destroyed it. Perhaps so much so as the main entrees were also very hefty! The rigatoni bolognese is masterful and the hint of Rosemary made them divine. The short ribs could feed all the Flintstones! Suffice it to say we have a lot of leftovers. It paired well with the Tuscan which was reasonably priced.
The staff - super attentive without being annoying. Hard to balance outdoors in the era of Covid. As we were almost leaving, I let it slip (when asked if we’d been here before) that we were out celebrating my bday. Within 2 seconds, they brought us out a delicious tiramisu and more Prosecco. A wonderful way to end the meal.
The food was delicious and the staff was amazing. I look forward to trying it again.
Bday! Thank you ... you guys are doing awesome during COVID times
Food was okay. Service was awesome. Brunch menu needs sprucing up.
Great food and atmosphere! Wish the patio was larger and more comfortable
There was a guest who kept coughing and it was very disturbing. We asked to move further away and the staff was wonderful in helping to coordinate.
Great food. Great service. Great drinks that came in a timely manner. Outdoor seating was very nice. Food was excellent
The outdoor seating is great. They set up tents, so it's okay even if it was raining when we went.
I go to Alta Strada a few times a year and was glad to swing by and find they had just rolled out their fall menu this weekend. The new roasted cauliflower was delicious! My husband had the classic chicken parm which he loved and we tried the bombolini and chocolate cake, which were indeed both moist and decadent desserts. The garlic bread unfortunately was a bit of a miss, kinda dry and not a lot of flavor, although the tomato basil dipping sauce was good! Anyway, another enjoyable visit. The pizzas and pastas are always great comfort food as well and I like their outdoor seating these days.
Great service, good food!
Fantastic venue for weekend brunch or lunch the southern-exposed outdoor seating is very comfortable. Numerous menu items are all appealing.
Server seemed like he didn't want to be working, made it uncomfortable to ask for certain items/ questions. He just gave off the vibe that he did not want to be there. Food was phenomenal though.
This is not quite fast food--the setting will remind of that, but the food is a bit above what you'd get at fast food Italian. Is it good? Well, it's fast. We enjoyed it. But would I go back? Probably not. The menu is pretty generic, the arugula salad was only OK, but the garlic bread was good. The salmon was too salty but on a great plate of roasted veg. You won't go wrong here, but also, you may not love it.
The food was fine - not as good as I remembered it from the last time we were there- but so overpriced! That put a damper on everything.
Delicious food, we had the eggplant parm and Ricotta ravioli. Great service!
Excellent service and ambiance!
Had a wonderful Socially Distanced Labor Day brunch for our little Quaranteam this weekend at Alta Strada. The seating was outdoor and well separated, the servers were very safe and great about their masks and gloves, and we felt very comfortable eating there in current times. We also LOVED all the dishes we got. We all live in the neighborhood and frequently would come for large brunches in the past while they did unlimited food and drink, so we were excited to come when bottomless drinks returned (no unlimited food yet for obv. reasons) and to try the new economical Brunch menu (one food item req per order for the unlimited drinks). Everyone was thrilled with their dishes, we will be back soon!
The restaurant's patio is very well done--together with other patios on the street, it makes one feel like you are sitting in Europe. The staff is very diligent about its Covid preparations. All of the food we had was very good--the pitcher of mango margaritas, the shrimp appetizer, and the chocolate cake stood out.
Lots of bug bites sitting outside. Solid food. Nice staff.
We went here for restaurant week and all of the food was very good! Outside patio tables were well spaced. Will definitely go back.
Best bolognese I've had locally and abroad. Delicious, authentic, quality Italian dishes. The Tiramisu is a must as well!
I have been here 4 times and carried out a few other times - I’ve had an amazing meal every time! The staff is attentive and kind and the food is always fresh and hot (even when you carry out). I would highly recommend Alta Strada for any occasion or everyday dining!
Very nice employees; attentive to our wine needs, very professional throughout. Great place!
Mediocre pasta. Could have made it better at home myself. Not worth $40 with a drink.
We were a party of 6 and had the best time! Restaurant week portions were huge and our server was very attentive. Everything was so flavorful! You can tell they were making each dish to order instead of bulking up due to restaurant week. We will definitely be back.
Honestly the food was overrated and expensive. Wasn’t bad, but wasn’t impressed either.
Delicious Italian style pizza. The shrimp bruschetta makes a great appetizer.
Overall great experience - they had all of the Covid best practices in place. Would recommend going to anyone.
