About La Buena Barra - Polanco

La Buena Barra is a place to see and to be seen where appearances are more important than the quality of the food itself. This is reflected in the quality of the dishes which is very uneven.
As such, ordering any dish at La Buena Barra is like playing the roulette. If you are lucky you will enjoy a very nice dish and be quite happy but if not, you will be regretting not having selected another dish from the menu.

Once we ordered food the service improved, so, if you are not in a hurry the leave the place in an hour or so, prepare yourself to have pushy waiters.

The food is amazing, I specially recommend the Barbachera, it's delicious. The service depends a lot of the waitress you have, and if you ask to other some of them respond "I'm not your waitress"

Overall a great place to have drinks and dinner with friends. Great vibe and ambiance, the food is also very good if you want to try plates to share. The Mezcal and Tequila selections are pretty solid, and the service is very good (a notable exception is the reception desk which has terrible service).
That being said, the main problem with this place is that they do not properly honor OpenTable reservations, in the sense that even if you have one, they will still make you wait 40+ minutes to give you a table. This has happened several times that I have visited the place. I've frankly lost patience with La Buena Barra, and I will probably go somewhere else in my next visit to CDMX.
Summary: Good food, great waiters, but don't expect them to honor or care about your reservation, you have to wait buddy.

The worst experience. Arrived on time, 8pm and they gave us the entrance table, which we didn't like, so they kept us waiting more than one hour and a half and no other table was available for 4, but in the meantime 5 or 6 tables were given. We finally left without being seat at all.

Never disappoints. It is a hot spot with great ambiance, good food and professional service. If you are lucky to get a table outside in the evening, the view is truly a vibrant one.

Although I made a reservation one week in advance I had to wait more than 20 minutes for my table. The restaurant was half full when I arrived and I was told that they were preparing my table. There's something strange in the way they give tables.
At last I was given a smaller than needed table in the worst place f the terrace. It was very hot and in the middle of the waiters traffic.
The food was not good and the prices are too high for the service and the overall experience.
I don't recommend this place at all
I went for a travel to México City, with my friends from Argentina and Spain. We enjoy all the night with the amazing service and the excellent food. The captain was so nice when we asked to change our table to the outdoor dining.
We were really thankful because they made a magnificient dinner for all my group of friends

The front staff cares nothing about customers, but this place is so popular right now that it matters nothing to management. We were kept waiting nearly 90 minutes past our 9:15 open table reservation. Hostesses shrugged. No one apologized. Music is punishingly loud and since half the restaurant is on an open terrace, smoking is allowed and smokers are plentiful. Have to say the food is great - everything we tried was delicious - but the smoke, noise, uncaring attitude and high prices mean no way we'd return here. There are too many far better restaurants in the neighborhood and in DF to put up with this place.
Rude hosts; great food
They don't respect your petitions like being sat on the sat on the smoking section. The steak on the hymalayan salt board is fantastic and so is all the food.
Food is really good and the ambience could not be better. Would definetely come back.
Incredibly pricey for the quality of its food
I don't think I would come back to this place. It's food is regular, as it is its service but their prices are totally outside of any proportion
Good but pricey
Food is good, he soft shell crab taco is definitely the best item on the menu. Complex yet delicious. Having the steaks warm on a block of salt is nice looking and gives the meat a nice taste to it. It gets crowded during the weekends and host staff is not the most polite in town, they are more like pretty ladies on a podium that know nothing about customer service. Had to repeat my name at least 4 times so she could get it right, even though it was written on the computer screen. Other than that, food is great but pricey for what you get.
